Why is it that there are more girl baby clothes than boys at the stores?

So, from observation of many stores, such as, Target, Babies-R-Us and USA Baby I have found that there are more options for baby girls. There are not as many choices and options for baby boys, that portion of the store is usually very small. Any ideas as to why this is?
These are all great ideas…keep them coming!! Has anyone thought about this before when walking through clothing stores? Am I the only one?

Because we live in a society that generalizes boys and girls. Girls are expected to be pretty and like pink, and boys are expected to not care about fashion and like sports.
"and girls can go really girly or not so much, where as boys can pretty much only go boyish." << Why though? Because that’s what society expects.
Because girls are more into fashion lol
It starts when they’re kids & never stops. Men can get by with jeans & a t-shirt & most are very happy about that fact.
I don’t know. Maybe because girls are cuter to dress. I have all girls so never looked for boys clothes.
Maybe because parents seem to like using their baby girls as little dolls and dress them in multiple outfits.
Also, women are more fashion varied than men, so same goes for girls.
no idea really, there are hardly any unisex outfits either!
It’s the same with older people anyhow like formal wear Men wear suits while Women have a far more variety of things to wear
because gurls rule and boys drool~sike.Maybe because producers make more gurl clothes.and girls clothes are more creative than boys and maybe the people like making creative clothes,and i agree,there r way more gurls clothes.
because for girls you can have different designs and patterns and for the boys they dont care
girls are more fun to dress and have more options. maybe there was a study done and they found that more girls are being born than boys.
they tinnk that women will buy more clothing for girls since girls love too shop and they will become gay if you dont teach them the normal feminine ways
cause with girls, there is so much that could be done. They are all cute and tell me which mom can resist to not have one of each for her baby girl. I am tempted to buy them sometimes, even though I don’t have kids. lol!!!
the person doing the ordering is wanting you to spend tons of money putting expensive clothes on your baby…who will outgrow it in a month
I believe there are more girl clothes on the market because local stores are able to add more accessories to the girl product such as purses and jewelry then to the boys. And let’s face it girls need more of a variety too.
I attribute it to the fact that manufacturers assume that boys wear just jeans and T-shirts most of the time but girls like to wear cutesy dresses, skirts, etc. I think there is more creativity allowed in making girl clothes than in making boy clothes so many designers use this as an opportunity to "go wild" with design.

Well Um, it could be because there is a larger
population of females in the world then there are men
Also Every year there is a dicrease in male babies
as there are more females….
Scary but true
The Y chromosome is slowly shrinking
and the X chromosome seems to be stable.
If not that then I have no idea.
I think its because girls have way more options-dresses, skirts, pants, shirts, blouses, ect. ect. ect….. boys pretty much have shorts, pants, shirts, overalls….
and girls can go really girly or not so much, where as boys can pretty much only go boyish.
Sometimes if you check out more of the boutiue-ish stores, like gymboree, you can find more equality for boys and girls.
Everything is more for the fair sex. cloths, jewelry, wigs and what not….because they have to attract other sex by looking smart.
That would be because the world population is dominated by the birth of female babies as opposed to male babies.

It’s the same all throughout life. If you look at the junior girls or womans sections there will be tons and tons of options. But if you look in the boys or mens sections there aren’t as many.
Maybe they think that baby boys don’t like to go shopping like the stereotype of older men.
Baby girl clothes sell better. Its that way in almost every store, even on eBay. It drives me bonkers. The other day i went to 3 different stores before i found a sweatsuit for my son, the others had all kinds of girls sweats but no boys.
