awww i know i want 1 lol.
im in england and they dnt do anything like that here,
however, family and friends often buy things down the line, but we dnt have 1 huge party xx im gutted i love parties lol. xx
It’s not that they don’t have them, they just aren’t as common in other countries.
Because baby showers were dreamed up by the retailers. Same with mother’s day and father’s day. Amazing the kind of clout Hallmark has…
in my country they do have very extravaggant baby showers.people give A LOT of money instead of presents so parents-to-be can buy whatever they want.it especially helps with 2nd and 3rd babies because that way parents can buy whatever they need and still have some extra instead of just a bunch of clothes and duplicate presents.
we dont have baby showers where i am from either…..i guess if you have a baby, it is our responsiblity to provide all the essentials it needs……not other people………….
Its just not a big thing in England where i am, Families are close and buy presents for the baby when its born, but most people don’t see the need for a big party and all that faff.
Some people do have showers, and i think some shops now do baby shower invitations, but its not a huge thing.
Every county has their own traditions. My In-Laws are English and we honestly never talked about either of my pregnancies until AFTER the baby was born. They didn’t want to jinx my pregnancies, so they didn’t celebrate the baby until after he/she was born.
Maybe it’s just them, but it’s not unheard of.
It’s very much a Canadian tradition, not just an American one.
They celebrate the arrival of the baby in different ways. Buying gifts and stuff is so materialistic. And maybe they feel that, that is not appropriate.
Maybe you should ask other countries as to why they dont have baby showers.
some people have a welcome baby party after the baby arrives
I know they dont have them in UK,but in Central America they are very common
we have them :S and we’re not american
so no its not just an american thing..
Hello…
Well every country has different traditions on the subject but it also has to do a lot with the individuals family and their own beliefs.
In Guatemala they do celebrate and my mom’s fam throw real nice parties but my best friends parents from the same place don’t celebrate any birthdays because of their religion. In Mexico they also celebrate (big time) & my Dad’s side of the Fam is all for it. I do think it’s a good thing but at the same time I think I can live without one if I ever get pregnant.
