When should I take baby out of crib to big bed?

My daughter is 18 months and she has always gone to sleep very easily. I put her in bed and immediately leave the room and she just goes to sleep without any problems or crying. I am worried that if I put her into a toddler bed that bed time will turn into a nightmare of continaul getting up and into things in her room. How do you know when the time is right?

First sign of her going over the top of the crib, take the crib down and then I would put her matress on the floor until she stays on that all night without falling off.

You know when the time is right because they climb out of the crib
put my son in a toddler bed at age 2. This is the age that most doctors will suggest i believe.
when she is potty trained
My toddler will be 3 soon and I put her in a toddler when she was trying to climb out of her crib..She was good the first week till she realized she can get out of her bed and crawl in bed with mom and dad..I waited till she was 30mths (2 1/2)…Now she does great so its really your call..I think 18 mths is too little still, doc told us to wait till she was 3 but i didnt want her to get hurt if she actually climbed out
Remove the night light. she probably gets up once her eyes adjust to the light and plays. Remove the light. If she’s not able to see things to play with, she won’t be so tempted. Also use the railings for the toddler bed and put a couple of SAFE favorite toys in with her. It will become the drink of water you can’t keep her in bed over.. Ha Ha good luck with that one.
My daughter will be 2 in April, and I still have her sleeping in her crib. I decided that as long as she wasn’t climbing out of her crib, I would keep her in it so that she couldn’t wake up and get into trouble. I tried the toddler bed and she wouldn’t go to sleep or even stay asleep if we moved her to it. I think that until she is actually potty trained and will need to get out of the crib to use it, then keep her in the crib. I think they feel safe in there.
Once she starts climbing out of her crib, switch her to the toddler bed. A toddler bed at that age fits them just right. They only set a few inches away from the ground, and my son had no problem switching from a crib to a toddler bed. I made it a big deal. I kept telling him that he is such a big boy now, and he has his own big boy bed. Try to do a lot of positive comments when switching over. I always put a little light in his bedroom, not a bright one, but one that if he wakes up, he does not get scared. I hope this helps, and good luck.
( if she is not trying to climb over and her weight limit fits for the crib, then just wait until she is either to big, or starts to climb. Just remember once she starts to climb, it won’t take long before she gets one leg over and falls, so just be careful)
If she isn’t climbing out of her crib, there is no need to rush it she obviously likes her bed and if she likes it then YOU like it
! They are young for such a short time. I think my oldest was right around 2 and he went right from that to a full sized bed cause it was what we had at the time. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Enjoy her they grow fast!
I did when my daughter was two and she was fine I just bought her a cool blanket with her fav characters on it and bought her a night light and she was fine.
my son went in a toddler bed a couple of months after his first birthday and it went really well. he loved his big boy bed.
When she starts trying to crawl out of the crib is the time she needs a toddler bed!
We made the change at age 2. If he’d ever tried to escape from the crib I would have done it at that time.
i would wait as long as you know she can not climb out. my son was one when i put him in a big boy bed cuz he was a climber. but like your daughter he always went to bed with out any problems. to this day he tell me night night mom and goes to bed on his own and he is only 20 months old.(except the last few nights he is sick) as long as she has her favorite animal pillow blanket and whatever she slept with in her crib you should be okay. not sure if she has a tv or radio in her room but it helps too. i put barney on for my son for 30 minutes. not only is he learning when he is laying down he is not alone he has his tv friend which helps too. good luck
We just moved into a big girl bed at the end of Feb…because one morning I went in to get her up and she was sitting on her floor reading one of her books. Somehow she had launched herself over the rail of her crib and then didn’t even cry…but I was still freaked and she went to a big girl bed the very next night. Just because they were fine the first time they climbed out doesn’t mean they can’t break their necks the second time they do it was my philosophy. She is currently 20 months old. And I’m one of the extremely lucky ones because my daughter just seems to adapt within 24 hours to anything. We didn’t have a bit of fuss about switching over.
