He could have gone to the toddler bed sooner had we had the money to get the toddler bed. He really has done great and he LOVES his big boy bed. I would just go ahead and get a toddler bed for your older child and save the convertable crib for the baby. You can get a nice and safe toddler bed at walmart. I believe we spent around $80 on the one we got our son and its a nice strong wooden one. If she can get in and out of the toddler bed then she is old enough, but then you have to worry about her wondering around if she may wake up.
