When did you start putting your baby in ''big clothes''?
What i mean is putting your baby in EG/ jeans and a t-shirt. My little boy is 5 months old and i love putting him in all in ones and romper suits, it looks so cute, but a friend of mine has always dressed her baby boy in pants and a top. TY
and have a good day mummys.

I started around 1week, with my second, I had so many outfits that were to darn cute, I couldn’t resist, my daughter however was in sleepers till around 2-3 mths, I didn’t receive that many outfits and didn’t want to spend that much on clothes, either way, I think babies look adorable, sometimes I love having my son in a one piece sleeper, he has a lot of the two piece pj’s.
we dress our son in a variety of things. We have had jeans for him to wear since he was born. But we still put him in sleepers and one piece outfits in the summer. He will be one on the 17th! congrats on the little boy! theyre so fun arent they!?
I could not wait to dress up my first boy in ‘big boys clothes’, he wore suits, shirts, tank tops…the lot and from 0-3 size!
He is now 2 and I have a 2wk old…this time my baby is going to be dressed like a baby for far longer…there is plenty of time for big boys clothes!
They are also far more comfortable, it is easier to wash all their clothes together instead of saving up their jeans etc and it is easier to change them
Plus they are just so much more cuddly
Let a baby be a baby and a child be a child
My daughter wears jeans and a shirt most of the time, she’s seven months. I probably didnt’ start it until she was around 5 or 6 months though. Until then I had so many onesies that she wore them. I just find it easier now to dress her in regular clothes. She’ll still wear a onesie sometimes if we’re around the house, but if we go anywhere she’s in an outfit.
From about 2-3 months he has been in proper outfits, he’s always had quite a grown up face & been very alert so had the look of an older baby so has suited it more.
When my daughter was younger, it depended on the situation, where we were going, etc. She had many cute sleepers which she often wore out, even on Sunday mornings to church. (It was enough that I was able to get myself dressed and ready, even with my husband’s help.) As she got older, it did depend on the situation, i.e., if I was taking her to spouse group, she just stayed in her sleeper since it was evening and close to bedtime. (My husband is a pastor and spouse group was for the spouses of the students so we could have our own little support group thing. Sure, most of us had friends outside of school, but they didn’t know what we were going through. Even though the ELCA ordains men and women, it was still mostly the wives.)
Now, she is 17 months. Usually, I get her dressed before we go out, but if it’s spontaneous, or my husband would take her to dartball at church for the evening, she would just stay in her sleeper. Heck, I don’t always get dressed during the day. She does have many cute outfits, so I like it when we go out so she has an excuse to wear them. Tomorrow, for instance, I think I’m going to put her in the dress she wore to my grandfather’s 100th birthday party. She has only worn it the one time, well twice as she wore it to church the next day, and I would like for her to wear it again before she out grows it. (Well, it’s long and big and she might be able to fit into it next winter, too.) I do have some golf shirt style dresses for her, but those can be worn in summer for casual-ish things instead of shorts, which is why I bought them. (I hit Steve and Barry’s when they were going out of business and I bought them and some shirts for a couple of dollars a piece. Some of the golf shirts I bought are technically boys’ shirts, but in gender neutral colors– royal blue, white, army green, so if/when we have a boy, he can wear them too. The couple of pairs of jeans we bought her, like the overalls we got free and second hand are gender neutral, for her future brother, too.)
I do remember her first Christmas when we dressed her in overalls and a shirt how she really looked like a big girl. That started my nickname, Little Big Girl.
The really bummer thing is when she outgrows her cute clothes, but there is always something new, too.
ETA to add on to UKMUM’s comments. I was not very girly when I was a girl. My mother had to fight with me to wear a dress to church on Sunday mornings. Yet, I like putting my daughter in girly things. Nothing too ruffly and fluffy, though. She has a shirt with pink bows on it that I didn’t care for because it’s too girly looking. (Yet, I like her hot pink overalls, but I think it’s the color and she looks good in them and it’s a color I can’t pull off. She wears it with a white shirt with little pink flowers and white socks with little pink rose buds.) The other day I put her in the bow shirt with overalls and the overalls seemed to downplay some of the girlyness, even with the pink cardigan and pink flower socks. Eh. I guess I’ll just dress her as girly as what I can until she decides she doesn’t like it. Even the golf shirt dresses are in girly colors, but because they are golf shirt styles on top, I don’t think they’re over the top girly.
Now, at 31, I’m not overly girly, but I do dress feminine, i.e., fitted blouses and jackets and shirts, even in pinks and purples. However, I’m not really into makeup or anything like that. (I have some foundation and lipstick that I got at Walgreens last month because it was free after rebate.) It will be fun to see what she develops into.
I like to dress him in both depending on my mood. He looks so sweet either way. But I also have a little girl who’s almost 3. I really try and dress her like a little girl. It’s crazy how many toddler girl outfits look like they belong on teens.
For the first few days I dressed my daughter in rompers and baby gros but once I brought her home from the hospital I started dressing her in outfits and she just wears rompers and babygros to bed now.
I love seeing her in little dresses, I think its adorable but everyone had their own opinion
I started when my daughter was 9 months. Her one piece outfits started fitting funny because she is so tall. So we can’t find them much in her size. She is 18 months now and she just wears jeans and t’s. Don’t make them grow up to fast and as long as they are warm they are happy. Let them be little;)
Have a great day@@!!!!!!
I have just started to and he will be 5 months old on tuesday. He looks like such a little cute man! I still use sleepers on the weekends and lazy days though so he can romp around.
