We started putting shoes on her when she could pull herself up and stand.
A year old.
soft shoes ‘shoo shoes’ from 6 months – he was in his walker at 6 months, then got proper shoes for outdoors but it is now at 14-15 months when he started walking and still wears soft shoes indoors and proper shoes outdoors.
For nursery he has special shoes – not too soft, not too hard so he is comfortable whole day.
My baby has been wearing shoes since she was 4-5mos. That’s when it started to get chilly outside. Right now she’s still in soft bottoms at 8mos. Next month I’m getting her pre-walking or walking shoes.
I am personally one of those moms who is against shoes until my boys are walking. I will put on some shoes when we go out & it’s cold but that’s it. I don’t waste my money with anything else b/c they grow so fast & I think it’s important for them to be able to move those toes & all the other muscles in the foot. I’ve read numerous times that they actually walk better barefoot so that they get a good feeling of what they are doing, helps them work on balance & again to strengthen all those feet muscles. Again this was just my preference my oldest got his first pair of shoes at 14 months, son #2 got his @ 1 year, and I’m waiting to see when my last little guy will get his first pair.
my daughter started walking at 12 months… she’d walk mainly at home though, we got her robeez at 12 months, and her real shoes, she got them at 15 months when she could walk out the door
i read in a book (The Baby Book) that when they start walking it’s important that they can feel the ground with their feet… that’s why we got her the robeez at first.
before 12 months, we would put shoes on her, mostly fabric ones but they were mostly for fun and fashion than anything else!
Letting? My son never wanted to wear shoes, so we weren’t letting him, we were making him.
He didn’t start wearing shoes until he was walking outside. He started walking in April, but he never really wore shoes until June or July when he would walk outside. Shoes are supposed to be worn for protection and warmth. Walking around outside requires their protection, but walking around in the house or in the grassy yard doesn’t.
Even now, my son (19 months) doesn’t often wear shoes. We keep them in the car most of the time and put them on when we get to where we’re going. On really cold and yucky days I’ll put him in his shoes to take him from the house to the car, but he pulls them off in the car anyhow.
I put them on my daughter from time to time, but I don’t think she needs to wear them all the time until she is walking around outside. The ones I have are soft ones. She is not walking yet. I have some ready for her when she is though.
i have a 8 month old daughter and she was wearing robeez since she was about 2 weeks old…I got her some walking shoes about 2 months ago and she is walking now!!! she started walking last week!!!
