When did you start bying clothes and stuff for your baby?
I finally fell for the cute outfits and bought my baby 0 worth of stuff…I bought gender neutral stuff and I couldn’t resist this little dress and this little onsie that says I love daddy and its navy blue so either sex can wear it. I can change the dresses but my problem is we aren’t gonna find out the sex untill birth and thats in 5 months which will be too late to exchange it. What should I do to stop myself from bying stuff?

If you want to buy stuff now buy all gender nuetral stuff. I started getting stuff for my son at about 3 months, but have only been getting the nursery ready. Its definitely not a bad Idea to make the furniture purchases that way you can do it a little bit at a time and by the time your baby is here it will be ready. another good thing to start buying is diapers because your definitely going to need them, and buying them all at once can be rather expensive so I would buy 1 box of diapers a month until your baby is due that way your not overwhelmed with spending when he/she is here. As far as clothing goes I would avoid that until you feel it is time to buy those things. I would avoid going into the baby department, and if you do I would look online first at the store your going to be shopping at with a specific list, add up the cost of that specific list and then only take that amount of money with you. You still have 5 months before baby is here so just try to relax everything will come together. I do have to say I am very relieved that I have all the major furniture expenses out of the way, Im due in 2 months and a week with my first child. We are having a boy! Congratulations Mommy-to-be and remember don’t push yourself to shop, just do what feels natural to you and things will come together just fine.
Dont go into the baby department!!
Start buying Boppy Pillows, Furnature/Decorations for the nursery room, putting money torwards blood cord banking (if you choose).. or college, stock up on diapers now!!! All sizes!!! and wipes, and socks! Get toys, a car seat, playyard, bouncer, swing, treat yourself to a massage and mani/pedi. You can use your money in so many other ways other than buying clothes for your LO. Seriously, you’ll spend the rest of your life buying clothes once you give birth!
stay away from those departments. i didn’t start buying stuff till after the baby showers.
I think exactly what you just said. Your buying stuff to far out for it to be exchanged and that should mean something for you. You shouldn’t be buying stuff that you cannot be taken back.
you dont have to stop yourself from buying things like lotions and diapers, though thats not as fun as clothes, i know. you can also get blankets and burp clothes, bottles, bibs. theres lots of stuff you can still get. but babys are expensive enough so i wouldnt invest in to many outfits until your sure of babys sex. you dont want to end up with a bunch of dresses if your having a boy, you could have spent that money getting boy clothes. good luck and congrats.
just by lemon cream brown white green like animals and stuff i would only buy a few neutral stuff and then when baby’s born you can put the neutral stuff on baby till you can get to town so save money aside other wise the baby will be in eg white all the time this way you can go buy pink or blue good luck with every thing
i started to buy stuff for my baby as soon as i found out what i was haveing. at 16 weeks i found out i am haveing a girl. i am going to be induced tomorrow yay! i finally get to meet her soon! get an ultrasound asap so they can tell you what you are haveing. call and ask if they can do that for you. id stop buying dresses that would be a waste of money especially since you wont be able to take it back it it were a boy
congradualations!
you can still go shopping for your baby but don’t get crazy about all the little cute stuff for the girls just buy things that both genders can wear like yellow or green or blue simple stuff like that.
good luck
If you aren’t going to find out the gender I would hold off on clothes. You will get alot of clothes at your Baby Shower. Also start buying other non gender specific items of you want to shop….diapers, wipes, etc. You can start your registry to help you figure out all that you need for your little one and if.when people want to purchase you and your little one a gift they will know what is needed.
If you have a dress and it is a boy I dont think you can return in 5 months….sorry
Best of Luck to you
buy toys and bottles and diapers and little things for the nursery instead of clothes
I’ve been buying things for the past couple of weeks. I’m buying gender neutral things, but I am also buying gender specific things as well. We know we’re going to have at least 2 more kids, and chances are we’ll use whatever we don’t use this time later on. For gender specific things I usually buy them on clearance though.
You could also give what you don’t use away to friends at baby showers or something like that. If you’ve spent a lot of money on it you probably wouldn’t want to do that, but just a thought.
