Babies R Us changed their policy, now u need a receipt. Carter’s will take back their clothes with out one, but u will get clearance price now because winter is almost over. JcPenney sells Carters clothes too, try there. Best of Luck. Congrats on your little one.
look for a carters store in your area, go to http://www.carters.com and search for a location. in the end if you cant find a store that will take them you could sell them on ebay or craigslist, you wont get the tag value but its better than nothing if all else fails! =]
Walmart will take back anything
Why dont you just bring them back to the stores you bought them from?
SInce you don’t have the receipts you probably won’t even get tag price on them. You will get the final ‘clearance’ price they sold the item for in the store.
You state you bought them at Carters and Babies R Us – why not return them there?
If the tags are on them it should still be fine. They can scan the code on the tags (or punch the upc into the system) and find out how much they were. Because you don’t have the receipt, they will probably give you store credit based on the lowest price that was attached to the clothes…meaning if they were on sale at any point, without the receipt, they can’t verify that you didn’t buy them during the sale, so you’ll get sale price back.
I can’t suggest any one store over the other, but in general, all clothing stores are good like that.
Just wanted to write about what the 1st poster wrote…
Carter’s outlet stores won’t take back clothes that were sold in a real retail store. Basics like white onesies and such maybe, but when it comes to clothes Carter’s has different lines for retail and outlet stores. I know this because I received a Carter’s outfit that I needed to exchange for a bigger size and, not knowing where it was purchased from, I thought the Carter’s store would be the best place to exchange it. As soon as the clerk at the outlet store looked at the outfit I had he questioned it because he didn’t recognize the style, and something on the tag instantly pointed out to him it wasn’t an outlet item. (maybe the sku# or something?) I ended up exchanging it at Boscov’s without a receipt, no questions asked. But I was exchanging it for an identical item (just bigger).
Babies R Us stores info in their computer if you used one of their Rewards cards when you made the purchase, and I think they can also look it up by your credit card if you paid that way. But if not your SOL with them. Their return policies aren’t customer friendly at all, which is why I avoid shopping there unless I have to.
Also, remember 0-3 Carter’s clothes are just a hair bigger than their NB size. You could probably use both around the same time. And depending on where you live you might be able to use some of them after all because newborns will need long sleeves & pants even when you might be comfy in shorts & a t-shirt. Now if they’re corduroy, then I woudn’t use them though.
Call babies r us and ask about their return policy. Many stores keep receipts for debt and credit card purchases for 3 months. If they do you can return w/o a receipt.
The store you bought them from
a store will not just let you return items just because they carry that brand. for example: just because you have carter’s clothes doesnt mean carter’s will allow you to return those items to the store. when they scan it into their system for a return, it wont come up.
and babies r us does not allow returns of any kind with out the original receipt.
either:
a. keep them for a future child
b. sell them
c. donate them
