What time does your toddler go to sleep and what time does your toddler wake up?
I was watching one of the nanny shows last night and she said that most 2 year olds are sound asleep by 8:30pm and it got me questioning my 16 month old’s routine. So…what time does your toddler go to sleep, what time does your toddler wake up, and what is your toddler’s bed time routine-out of curiosity. Thanks!

WOW, a lot of you are lucky. My son since day one has never been a 12 hour sleeper. My son (who is now 19 months) has always been a napper and never slept for more than 10 hours at night. My son goes to bed between 10-11:00 PM and wakes up between 8:00-9:00 AM. He naps around 1-2 O’clock and sleeps for about 2-3 hours. I have tried to keep his naps short hoping for longer sleeping nights but it never worked. We just rock him to sleep for about 5 minutes.
Until my child was 3 he and I just went to bed when ever he got tired, whether it be 9 or 11 and slept til almost noon. We only started a routine since he started preschool. Now he goes to bed at 9ish and unless I wake him up earlier, he usually sleeps until 10 am.
People always told me that i should not have let him stay up late with me and that I would have a hard time starting him on a routine. It only took a couple of days to get him adjusted to the schedule and now sometimes he tells me when he is ready for bed.
I have a 4 yr old 2 yr old twins and a 9 mo old. Usually they get up around 7 am. Naps from 12pm to 1 or 2pm depending on how tired mommy is. And bedtime at 8pm. Our bedtime routine starts around 6:30pm, after dinner. We have baths, brush teeth get into pj’s, stories or a short game that’s it. And be strict No more than one. We do ours in the den where it’s nice and cozy. Then in bed at 8pm.
my son is 20months old. he goes to bed about 7.30 – 8 o’clock.
His night routine – after dinner i brush his teeth then he has a bath. He chooses some books. we read for about 15min half an hour if he doesn’t fall asleep during reading. he is almost potty trained so if he is still awake he trys to put off going to sleep by saying he needs to go to the toilet. So after the toilet he has some water and goes to sleep.
Oh yeah and he usually gets up around 7.30
I am a single father of a six year old and his bed time is between 8-8:30 and hes has had the same bed time by me since he was 7 months old. Sometimes if he had a long day and had a short nap or no nap at all, he will come up to me earlier than his bed time and tell me that he wants to go to bed. As far as the time he normally wakes up, it varies with what time he went to bed and if it is still dark out like in the winter. During the week I have to wake him up in the morning to get ready for school and that is usually around 6:30. On the weekends I let him sleep in and he usually gets up between 8-9:30 during the winter. Basically he gets up when the sun is starting to light up his room. I always have tried to make sure that he gets at least nine hours of sleep because alot of rest is critical for the child’s growth and development.
early to sleep at night and early to rise in morning is nice for ur health.
My 16 mo. old has religiously gone to bed between 7 & 8 since day one. Its both good and bad…it restricts us a bit, because she isnt a child that will just fall asleep anywhere, and if she’s up past 8 has a total meltdown. We have bath time around 7, jammies, and play and read until she gives me the signs she’s had enough and is ready to cash in. She sleeps straight through until 8 or so in the morning.
My 3 year old goes to sleep at 830 and wakes up @9.
As long as your child gets enough sleep its fine. Your child needs to be on schedule that works for you. When he was ur childs age he would have a nap at 1 2ish and go to bed at 930pm
My 2 year old daughter goes to bed around 8 or 9 pm. She goes around the house giving everyone kisses and hugs then I take her, tuck her in and turn on her "Little Bear" dvd… it usually doesnt take long for her to fall asleep.
Some may disagree about having a movie playing but it works for us.
She HAS to have her soft baby blanket that she rubs on her eye and cheek.
She wakes up about 7 or 8 am, sometimes earlier, but plas in her room for a bit.
My son is two and a half and because I am a stay at home mom, he has always fallen asleep when and where he is at the moment he passes out. Yeah some say this is not good but I stay up late doing the things I have to do while everyone is asleep so he stays up with me until he gets tired. It may not be the best thing but there are different situations. My sisters little boy is in bed by 7 pm and I still don’t know how she done it. If you find a good answer let me know!
My 15 1/2 month old usually goes to sleep between 730 and 8 and is up between 7-8. (really love when it is
she eats dinner around 6 takes a bath we read stories and believe it or not we do baby sign language and she shows me the sign when she is tired and walks to her crib and says night night when she is ready
Most nights he goes to bed between 8-9 and wakes up between 8-9. He’ll normally sleep for about 12 hours at night.
We don’t have a very specific bedtime routine. We eat, play, change diaper, put on pjs, tell a story, and it’s bedtime.
Now, though, he is fighting going to sleep by climbing out of his crib, plus he has a cold and is working on his 2 year molars, so we’re doing everything we can short of just putting him in his room and shutting the door until morning to get him to sleep.
My son, 20 months old, goes to sleep at the latest 8:00 pm. Sometimes earlier. He is in P.J.’s by 7:00 pm. We read a book and straight to sleep. I started this at 10 months old. He wakes up around 7:00 to 8:00 am. He sleep around 12 hours at night. And has two naps during the day, together they last 3-4 hours. He is never fussy and we play hard!
If what you are doing works for your family then keep it up. I also watch the Nanny shows.
My daughter just turned 1 in Dec. and has been on the same sleeping schedule since she was 7 months old. She goes to bed between 7:30 and 8 and usually wakes up around 5 cuz she’s hungry so I give her a cup of milk and then she sleeps till about 7 30 or 8. Hopefully she will eventually outgrow the milk thing but for now it works.
Hey I watched Super Nanny last night too and my mom made a joke about my daughter staying up so late!
Well she’s about to be 16 months old and goes to bed around 10 pm and gets up around 9am. As long as they get enough sleep it doesn’t really matter when they go to sleep until they start getting near school age.
my lil brother go to sleep around 8,9,10 on weekends doing the week he go to sleep early cuz he go to school he wakes up between 7-10 a.m he 2 2/1 this is an pic of him but its old http://s277.photobucket.com/albums/kk66/ashkobi822/?action=view¤t=IMG_0002.jpg i had been took it like in the summer he was still 2 but he wasn’t 2 in a half he was born in march 10 2006
My 3-yr-old has been going to bed at 7:30 for about two years now. She usually wakes up around 7:30 as well, with a nap at 1:30.
My 18 month old goes to bed at 8:30 and wakes up at 7. My 2, almost 3yo goes to bed at 8:45 and also wakes up at 7.
Most of the time I try and have Sophie in bed by then, yes. But there are off nights, like if she has a late nap or we are at our church home group. She sometimes wakes up at night, and is up for good usually around 7.
Hi, my 2 yr old goes to bed at 7pm. she gets up around 6am.
Bed time routine is bath, story or quiet time watching telly with a cup of milk and a snack (usually a banana). Then off to bed where she more often than not stays all night. x
it depends how much my son sleeps in the day. if he has a good afternoon nap – hour and a half, he’ll go to bed at 7.30pm and be up about 6.30am the next morning. if he misses his nap for any reason he goes to bed about 7 and wakes up about 7am. hope that helps.
every child is different though and he still has nights when he’ll wake at 5am and want to play.
his bed time routine is dinner, bath, story, milk and bed.
my 15 month old goes to bed between 8 and 8 :30 and wakes between 6 and 7 am. Sometimes 8 if I’m lucky!! I have almost thought of letting her stay up until 9 so she will sleep in a bit longer, but she really does get sleepy before then.
My 7, 5, and 4 year old boys go to bed anywhere from 730-8 depending on how cranky they are, and wake up anywhere from 630-730
He goes down anywhere from 6:30-8pm and always wakes up about 8:20 am. We put him to bed when he starts getting mean and whiny, those are the ues he is tried. He also just keep rubbing his face and ears. Sometimes h ewill just lay down on his own.
my 18 month old daughter has been going to bed at around 7:00pm and when I don’t have to take her into day care she gets up around 7:30am. She has been doing this since she was about 8 months. We generally read her a story, and let her turn off the light and turn her music on, then lay her down with her sippy cup of water, her little sheep, and then "tuck" her in tight. Then most nights she goes down with out a major fuss. It’s usually a 5 minute fuss, and then she’s out for the night.
Mine goes to sleep at 12pm and wakes up at 11am
