What is the deal with CO-ED baby showers?

Is this just another way for women to torture men. My SIL is prego and having one when she invited us I said men dont go to baby showers then her and my wife just smiled all evil like and said, Oh this is a CO-ED baby shower.
How can I get out of this? I did not do anything wrong, why should I have to go.

I’m sorry. We all know you didn’t do anything wrong. However, if you’re wife already gave you the evil smile, nothing short of the plague is going to get you out of going. I know this because I am a wife myself, and I know what the evil smile means.
It’s not you that your SIL is trying to torture – it’s her own husband. Hopefully you like him and you guys can hang out during the shower.
Cheer up, though – the one co-ed baby shower I ever went to served beer and margaritas. Maybe you can get rip-roaring drunk. That always makes weddings tolerable, so it ought to do the same for baby showers.

If u don’t want probablems wit ur wife or your sister in law.. just go.. There is no problem with co-ed showers.. I am sure there will be activities for the males.. and I am sure u can hang wit them
I don’t really see anything wrong with it. It’s your child too. Hang out with the other husbands/boyriends.
My sister had a co-ed shower when she had her third child…she did this b/c her husbands mother passed away a few months before, so she wanted her husbands father to be there to share in everything since his mother was gone. There was only a small table with a few men there, including my brother in law and his father…all of the men there were happy to be invited and had a good time.
Lol, baby showers are not that bad. And I am not just saying that because I am female. Particularly co-ed baby showers. There will be other miserable men there for you to mingle with, so chances are, it won’t be all that bad. On the plus side, if the pregnant couple is really generous, they’ll include free food.
I had a co ed baby shower with my first kid and it was actually a lot of fun. It was just like having a regular party but baby themed. We had a ton of food and drink. Even beer!!! (I know a little white trash right?) Lol. But it was a lot of fun. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Even the men! So I would give it a try it won’t kill ya.
