Without a doubt, my Mei Tai sling.
I bought it from a work-at-home mom when my middle child was 8 months old, and she rode in it on my back for several hours a week while I took walks, ran errands, etc. She’d even put her head down and nap if we were out for a while.
My oldest rode in it some up to age 4 if we were at the zoo or somewhere all day where she wanted to be piggy-backed a lot. My middle child did the same thing.
My youngest rode in it on my chest for several hours a day from the time he was a newborn. He’d nap in it while I went to the grocery store, took walks at the park, cooked dinner, etc. I carried him at least several hours a week until he was a year old. He’s now 18 months old and doesn’t want to ride in it anymore because he wants to walk like his sisters.
I honestly think every parent should have a sling or similar carrier b/c they’re so helpful.
Wet wipes.
The most useful thing we have for our baby is a baby swing. It was only £15 from Argos and it means that I can put her in it and give her a little push every so often and she is kept entertained while I tidy up and I know that she is safe and not into anything that she shouldn’t be.
1 – Formula – I couldn’t breast feed so It was the best 2nd choice for my daughter
2 – Wipes
3 – Diapers
Lionheart Baby Wipe Warmer. LIFESAVER! My baby never cried when it was time to have a diaper change!

A sound activated light projector. When my baby woke up the lights and music would come on and keep her entertained while i made up her a bottle/got bits ready to change her/or finish sorting out my other children.
It was great not having to rush around with her screaming, she loved it.
Sooo many things were soo and are sooo useful to a mom…let me star by saying wet-wipes:my older one is 4 and still gets messy,so the "baby" wipes are always in my bag,For my youngest thats 17 months old,at this I ALWAYS have pacifiers-pinkies-bobo-etc- with me,not to mention baby orajel-for his gums- and snacks. But when he was a baby like they said before here,a swing is sooo useful,I used to put mine in and he would stay there until whenever I took him out……
So theres many many things that are useful for us when it comes to our child, but only us can know if that useful thing is the best for the child, since every body is different and ur baby may not like what others-mine- likes….
Good luck!
I can’t think of the name right now but those swaddler blakets that velcro so it takes them longer to kick out of it.It made my babies sleep better.
educational dvds..like Barney,Elmo’s World,Mickey Mouse Clubhouse etc…she enjoys watching them..and learn pretty alot fm them.
It helps alot to do my houseshores peacefully :p
Apart from the usual nappies, wipes etc (obviously) It would had to have been his walker – my son was quite late in beginning to walk (and crawl) and he seemed so sad in his bouncer watching me clean up the house, so I went out and bought him a walker, ignoring all the family calling to tell me that "He’ll never walk" if I got one, I placed him in it and he started jumping after me with a big smile on his face.
Later that same afternoon he learned how to run over toes and reach and open the drawers. Well worth it though.
my swing…when my son was tired i would put the music on and let him swing till he slept!

my son is two and I don’t think I would be able to get my home work done if it wasn’t for Barney, Calliou, Blues clues, Dragon tales and Diego. he also has this learning system called your baby can read he learns alot and it keeps him busy
Mega Bloks! We got the kids a Step 2 block table that they can build on, as well as the Mega Blok dump trucks. They play with those blocks half of every day! They really use their imagination with them. I spend a lot of time playing with them, but that table is a lifesaver when I have to take a phone call, or if I want to do the dishes or laundry. They are almost 3 and almost 2 years old now, and we have had it since the oldest turned 1. The stuff still looks brand new, and it is pretty much impossible to break or ruin the set!
When they were babies though we couldn’t have lived without onesies. Oh, and the AVENT bottle sterilizer! Saved us hours of standing over a boiling pot of water!
Wow good question.
For my son as a baby – it was a tie between the bouncy chair that vibrated and the car bottle heater. He slept in the chair, played in the chair, etc. The bottlew warmer was a life saver when we weren’t at our destination yet, but the screaming baby in the back was hungry.
As a toddler, the best car toy is a mini dashboard with a stering wheel and other buttons. It plays sounds, music, lights up and is just plain fun – even for my husband. Haha! Otherwise, my son loves chalk. Chalk on the driveway, on a chalkboard inside, in the garage while raining, etc.
