What causes blue staining from drool on baby clothes?
My third child is teething and drools a lot. If she drools on light clothing there are bluish-gray stains when the clothes come out of the wash where the drool landed. You can’t see them before hand to pre-treat. They only show up after being laundered and sometimes don’t come out when re-washed with stain removers. What is causing this staining? She’s not on formula and hasn’t been for months! My other two kids never had this issue.

If you are giving her a liquid vitamin supplement with iron, this could be coating the inside of her mouth and mixing with her saliva. When she drools the iron is staining her clothes the bluish color. That really is the only explanation I could think of. I used to remedy this problem by immediately offering the breast to "rinse" my daughters’ mouths out after they’d had their vitamins.
I am not sure about the blue but once the formula gets on something there is no getting rid of it. That stuff really stains why I dont know.
