What baby items did you really use?? what did you waste your money on?

Waste of money:
* Baby bath – used it about 3 times then used the laundry tub or shared normal bathtub (which is a good bonding time for baby and father)
* Bassinette – used it for about 2 weeks then put my daughter into a cot or in bed with us.
* Pack and play/portacot – Never used it. My daughter just dead set refused to be in it.
* Baby sling – Depending on what type u get, they can be tricky to work or uncomfortable and my daughter just got too heavy for me to carry her in it for long! LoL
* Breast pump – I found it painful to use, thats when the damn thing worked properly and its just overall easier to be near ur child at feed times!
Things u can’t live without or cant get enough of (well I couldnt anyways!):
*Nappies – nuff said really!
* Singlets/growsuits – they are one of those tihngs u never seem to have enough of so next time I am going to stock up big time!
*Baby swing/rocker or bouncer – my daughter loved her bouncer. Im talking about those old style ones, really basic and it helped me many times to get of off to sleep!
* Jolly Jumper or similar – as soon as my daughter could hold her own head up she lived in that thing. There are 2 schools of thought, one says its bad for babies hips and legs and the other says it actually strenghtens them for walking. If your interested, ask around and read up to make up ur own mind but personally I found it awesome!
useful- diapers, t-shirts, pajamas, also socks.
waste of money- clothes for the first 2 months pants, and shoes, i had way to many outfits
Here’s what worked/didn’t work for me:
Waste of money: Baby tubs (sink works just fine), diaper genies/pails (any old trash can with a lid is fine), Pack-n-Play (used once if at all… totally useless unless you travel constantly, and who does with a baby??), wipe warmer, bottle warmers, sterilizing equipment, baby jogger (unless you’re a die hard runner, waste of money)
Great buys: Baby swing, vibrating papasan infant chair, exercise saucer, bumper jumper, humidifier, car seat, stroller,
high chair, nice diaper bag (you’ll be carrying it every day for several years, good to get one you really really like!), etc….
i loved my pack an play. it was light and i i could take it anywhere i went and i could fold it up if i wasnt using it. my baby also loved the baby einstein videos… i loved them too. i wanted one of those little bed seperaters that they have so the baby can sleep in your bed with you and you wouldnt have to worry about rolling on them because there was this seperator. but i never got one.
The items I didn’t get much use out of were the Diaper Genie (too much work and there was always an odor). The other was a diaper wipes warmer – it would make the wipes turn brown.
