What are some good ideas for home made baby gifts besides diaper cakes and quilting?

My sister-in-law is having her baby shower in one week and I am just so excited I wanna create more things! But don’t have that much money as I am a college student so I have already made a diaper cake and baby sock rose bouquet is there ANY other things to create that do not require knitting/quilting? She is having a baby boy!

why not make a new mummy tool kit?
get a pretty basket and fill it with the things she will need as a new mum-eg. a toiletries bag full of little pamper products for the hospital, picture hooks so she can hang all the pictures of her little bundle of joy, a small travel sewing kit ( I am always reaching for mine to mend the tears of my best friends childrens clothes!), travel tissues as new mums can get rather teary, and a small novel in one of her fave types to help fend off the boredom that often hits new mums.
It would actually be great if you could put together a wonderful collection of photos, maybe of your sister-in-law’s and brother’s baby pictures, maybe wedding pictures, and leave space for future baby pictures. personal and cute
Well I don’t know if you are "artsy" but for my sister I made her a painting…went to Hobby Lobby and got a canvas and paint and pretty much just painted colored stripes that match her bedding. She loved it and it looks great in the babies room. Good Luck!

they’re kind of along the same theme you’ve got going, if you don’t think it’d be overkill. they’re so cute though. you could also maybe get some onesies and fabric paint and do some sort of custom stamping onto them. or tie dye onesies or pants.

My sister-in-law made my husband a manly diaper bag. She got a soft tool box that has a handle and filled it with diapers on the bottom, attached clothespins for the dirty diaper smell, a facemask, a bottle of tylenol, and used safety pins to attach washcloths and bibs to it. It was a gag gift, but useful too. You might be able to do a girly one for cheap.
My friend took one of those cheap canvas covered photo frames (she found it in the clearance aisle at Wal-Mart) and painted it in the nursery’s theme, super cute and cheap!
you could start a scrapbook album or the first few pages of one where all she has to then do is insert the photos.
You could start the album with the first page dedicated to a family photo or wedding photo of the parents, then the next page is one of her pregnant, then make the next page for the birth pictures, then 1 month old, 2 months old etc…
Or if she already knows what she is going to name the baby you could make a door plaque with wooden letters on a timber piece of wood all painted up nicely and ready to fix onto the babies room door.
You can also make face washer cupcakes which are really cheap but look so cute and are very practical!

You probably know that kids love to make noise. I hope that noise doesn’t bother you also. Especially when children are little, it’s amazing to watch them explore their world. Even if it seems to you like all they are doing is banging your pots and pans around
. Here is an inexpensive idea and it’s easy to make.
Pie Tin Tambourine:
You can make these fun tambourines in about twenty minutes. Try making several and filling them with different items to hear how it affects the sound they make.
Materials:
Disposable aluminum pie tins (tart size works best), masking tape or packaging tape, dry grains (rice, beans of different sizes, macaroni noodles, popct.
Steps:
1. Fill one pie/tart tin with a handful of the dry grains of your choice.
2. Sandwich the other tin upside-down on top of the filled tin.
3. Use masking tape or packaging tape to secure them together all the way around.
4. Shake and enjoy.
5. You might want to play some music to shake along to. This helps kids develop rhythm.
