both my daughters had small hand knitted blankets from a very young age (1 month), as they can breath through them if they ever did cover there faces but i swaddled both my girls as so they couldn’t roll over. my eldest daughter had a pillow at one year whilst she was still in cot my second is only ten months and only has a pillow if napping on sofa or where i can keep an eye on her. trust your judgment your there mum and know best whats right for them.
I used blanket sleepers and a thermal receiving blanket as soon as my babies were able to roll over on their own. I never used pillows in the crib.
never. i waited until she went to a toddler bed. she is 4 1/2 yrs old now, and i still check her in the night. some nights i find her with her blanket wrapped around her head. her favorite blanket is so thin and worn, she cam breath through it, but i still uncover her! pillow when they areat least 1 year, but they really dont need it!
My kids always had a blanket. When they were small I would just wrap it around them and once they got older ( like 6 mos) they had become attached to a blanket and dragged it around the house and slept with it too. They were ‘ baby size’ blankets, I dont know the actual measurements.
My first two got a thin pillow by 18 mos, my now 18 mos old does not yet have one, and they got bigger blankets around 2 ( almost twin size ones, little smaller though)
yeah, I know they are not supposed to have one as babies, but I would swaddle them to sleep with a receiving blanket and it would unravel during their sleep so I would end up just tucking the ends of the blanket under them and we ever had problems.
But I would recommend not giving a big, heavy blanket before like age 2 or 3. Just stick to the light, tiny balnkies for toddlers and babies
my daughter was about a year old when we put a blanket in her crib..just a small baby blanket. She was around 18 months when we let her sleep with a small pillow. And now that she is two she uses a regular size pillow.
the age varies and is based on child’s ability to turn away from the blanket or to remove it in case it covers his/ her face.. i would say the age of 12 months is the safest bet but i am too paraniod about safety, so i waited until 20 months.. in the meantime, i got a bunch (4 to be exact) pjs with feet, so that the baby doesn’t have to rely on blankets.. now pillows are different.. when my baby was young (very young) she used to have lots of runny noses, so instead of lifting the mattress (in which case she was rolling down to the lower end of the crib), i gave her the pillow.. now, mind you, it’s not one of those baby pillows – it was a king sized pillow that fit the width of the crib perfectly while the depth of it allowed for at least half of the baby’s body to be on it, so that the head was now skewed and that there is no suffocation hazard..
