GivPerf, sorry you had such an uneducated doctor when it comes to breastfeeding. Women tandem nurse all around the world and it’s perfectly fine.
Milk will turn into colostrum and it won’t hurt the toddler it still has antibodies and what not which are very good for them both. in fact, her body may produce even rmoe since she is nursing both children her body will be exposed to all of their germs and produce antibodies for them
I’m just wondering why someone would tandem nurse. In general, breastfeeding while pregnant creates a situation where nobody benefits.
I have a 5-month-old baby and am 7 weeks pregnant. My doctor instructed me to stop nursing, because I am risking harm to all 3 of us.
EDIT: My doctor instructed this because I have a blood clot between the chorionic plate and the uterine wall. Breastfeeding induces uterine contractions, which could cause me to lose the pregnancy.
The milk meets the need of the newborn. The older child will be (obviously) at least 9 months old, and probably well over a year. At that point breastmilk is a less significant part of baby’s diet, and he can handle ‘newborn’ milk just fine.
EDIT: GivPerf — your doctor is out of date. They used to recommend weaning as soon as mom became pregnant again, but it’s no longer usually considered necessary. Breastmilk continues to be healthy (and often very important, if baby is under a year old) for the older nursling, and as long as mom eats well, she can provide for the needs of all 3.
You can try Mamibaby milk it is the producer from Taiwan. this product has approve by the ministry of health center.it ls an important stage for baby development and balanced nutrition in this stage will be the base for the futurehealth of your child. but i think you should feed your newborn baby( 0-6month ) by natural milk(ur milk) if you have time.
