What's so bad about stretch marks?

As spring draws near, I’m seeing more and more swimsuit racks appearing in clothing stores. Each time I see a bikini, I have a horrid sinking feeling, knowing that I can never again confidently wear one of these skimpy sets. How unfair it is that stretch marks are a fashion taboo! Having had my first baby at 18 in May 2008, my belly is now striped with light purple lines. As are my hips. And my thighs. Being a young mother, I feel as if I didn’t properly appreciate my slender (comparatively flawless) teenage body. I’m 5’7", 125 pounds and, besides these scarred stripes, I’d say I’m fairly attractive.

Anyway, my question: Should I throw caution to the wind and proudly display my bikini-clad mama body this summer?

How do I feel attractive when I’m pregnant?

I’m 26 wks pregnant. I cut all my long hair off before finding out, and we recently moved. There are no maternity stores within 60 miles, and even the small Wal-Mart here doesn’t offer maternity clothes. I have a toddler running around, stretch marks all over my belly, and even when my husband tells me I’m beautiful I don’t believe it. Any suggestions what I can do? No pampering manicures for us, as there is no room in our budget these days….

8 Months pregnant and not showing?

Hi I am SO frustrated. I am a little bit on the larger side…but not too much. I have wide hips, but have always had a flat stomache. I have pretty much just looked fat "literally" since about 5 months. Every month, I just look fatter. This is very frustrating. I am 8 months, and nothing has fit me since three months. Not even maternity clothes. I am sick and tired of people being rude or brushing past me or cutting in line when I have a 5lb baby pushing against my bladder. I am NEVER going to look pregnant. I want the belly rubs and the attention, moslty becuase I need it now that I can’t hold my bladder or the pain on my cervix. Lol I am waitress so this is even more frustrating as it is a demanding job and people LOVE to stiff pregnant people. Anyway, I could rant on and on (I really could) Does anyone have any suggestions or hope to offer me? I am thankful I don’t have stretch marks thus far….but really???
Let me add, I realize all the cons to being a HUGE pregnant women. I am not more than 20lbs overwieght…weight is not the issue…which is what i stated. I am venting, I am homonal, so you rude people go sit on a cactus. I was looking for an educated explination, not someone else telling me too loose weight (because they don’t f-ing know i’m pregnant) JESUS!!

Does anyone know post postpartum exercises ?

I am 16 years old and I am 5 months postpartum with my first child. Lately I have been very depressed and I know my body has a toll on it. I was patient because I was losing little by little and I even worked out for three weeks and got encouraged when I saw that it was actually working. However, I got sick and stopped working out. Recently I swear I have gained weight. I look so much fatter. I put makeup on and I have a double chin. I have stretch marks everywhere on my belly and below my waste. I’ve always thought that I was fat, but I only thought so in my hips and love handle area. My belly was always okay. Now I am fat everywhere and everytime I think really hard about it, I cry. It gets to me so much, honestly. I am 5 ft. 4 and before I had my baby, I was 142 .lbs. Now I’m 5 ft. 4 and 161 lbs. I can’t even go out get clothes because I am scared to try them on. Please help, I need some real good exercises that I know will help me out.

Is it really him or is it just me imagining things?

I had a baby 9 months ago. I gained about 23 pounds permanantly. I actually still fit most of my pre-pregnancy clothes but I started getting Depo shot and was told it would cause approx. 13 lbs of weight gain. I decided to lose 15 lbs so it would even out. I started to eat better, exercise more and eat only the calories I needed… my BF is worry that I might keep dropping cuz it took me so long to be secure with my new body which is just bigger butt and bigger boobs and wider hips…I told him the only thing I dont like is I have a few stretch marks, that aren’t noticable, but they are to me. he started comparing me to some other girl that was my size when she had a kid and has no marks.since then I have been super insecure and a few times he’s called me fat, when I told him how it made me feel when he said that, he told me to talk to a therapist and stop blaming how I feel about myself on him. I want to know if he is right or if I am just over-reacting or imagining these things…

I have lost most all of my baby weight but my body is NOT even close to the same. I went from a size 0 in clothes to a size 6 which I know is still small and I dont mind my size but it’s what’s underneath my clothes that bothers me. My butt and hips have stretchmarks all over them. I used to wear XS Victoria’s Secret panties and now im a medium. I was fortunate to not have stretch marks on my tum but the skin seems loose and I no longer have abs (I used to be a nearly pro gymanst). My breasts changed the most and I am devastated about them! I used to have nice 32C perky round breasts. During pregnancy and breastfeeding they grew to a 36E and were absolutely enormous I would have NEVER in my wildest dreams thought I would get such large breasts, now they have shrunk back down to a 36C. They are saggy as spagetti noodles, sit FAR apart, they have PURPLE stretchmarks on the sides of them and underneath them. My husband says they are different and Im just not used to them but he still says he likes them. Whatever! I hate them! They are GROSS!

I just feel so UGLY. I cry when I look in the mirror after I get out of the shower. Its bad! I NEVER feel pretty no matter how much time I spend doing my hair and makeup and even when I put on a new outfit or jeans I still know what I look like underneath and I feel so insecure. I just dont know what to do. I would love to go tanning but my sister is being treated for Melanoma cancer and I feel if I went to the tanning bed knowing what my sister is going through would be a terrible thing to do.

I love my daughter and would do this all over again because she is so worth it. But I still cant help but feel so down about the way I look.

HELP! Are there other moms who feel the same way or similar? Please tell me Im not alone? Is there anything out there to get rid of stretch marks? I used cream (Palmers) all during pregnancy and obviously it didnt work on my thighs and breasts.
Medication will not help the fact that my body changed so drastically. I am not suffering from post partum depression. I am just not used to my new body.

do guys thinks strech marks are gross?

I just had a baby 2 1/2 months ago, and I have some stretch marks on my stomach hips and breasts. they are not that bad but i’m very self conscious and I’m afraid for people to see them. my boyfriend says that I’m really hot and that they don’t bother him at all. I was very skinny before baby and now I have a little extra weight but I fit into my pre-baby clothes. will my stretch marks still be noticeable after a while? I want to wear a bathing suit again but the stretch marks are gross to me.
