okay i had my baby shower. well my best friends (since we were 5) mom came and got me 2 things off my registry: an ear thermometer and a bottle warmer. well, later on i checked the reviews on the ear thermometer and it got bad ones. there were a few things we still needed and i am due soon (i am 37 weeks) so we returned those two items which together were like and got the mobile for his crib, some hooded towels, and the regular rectal thermometer. we figured we will just heat up the bottles in the sink. sometime i know she will come over to see us and the baby. do you think she will look for the bottle warmer. i am writing my thank you notes today, should i say how helpful these items are going to be or what? hers is the only gift i returned that she might notice, and she bought off my registry which i was thankful for. i don’t want to seem ungrateful but i just needed some other stuff more. should i act like i kept the stuff and love it or should i tell her i returned it.
she also got me a diaper genie which i did keep, and made me two handmade afghans which i love!
she included gift receipts and i know wouldn’t be very hurt, and i think if she asked about the gifts i would probably tell her the truth, but for the purpose of a thank you note at least, what should i write? i want to make it more personal than "thank you for coming and for such and such gift"
she is my best friends MOM. so i don’t know if people in the generation above me will think it is rude.

I have a stack of carters brand clothes we received as gifts before she was born i would like to exchange for a different size. i don’t know where they came from. Some have pink carters tickets and some have brown carters tickets. the pink carters tickets do not even have a price on them. the brown ones have stickers applied for the price. does anyone have any guess as to where i could take them back and exchange for a different size?
i worked in a retail store before, people return clothes all the time with out receipts.

well a diaper raffle is when you bring diapers to a baby shower in exchange for a chance to win a prize. so i was thinking for every item bought on my baby registry, one raffle ticket will be given for every the gift is worth. I was thinking there should be a maximum amount of tickets given to each person so people who bought big 0 gifts wont end up with 20 tickets and to round up gifts worth like gifts will be consider and as and so on. that way people are more likely to buy what i requested, have the gift receipt, and not buy multiples of the same item. the prize would probably be a gift card to the mall or a gift basket. my sister had a baby registry and no one but me and my grandmother bought from it. my sis ended up with thirty blankets. 2 playmats, 2 carriers, lots of preemie clothes (the baby was born 8 lbs) and no receipts.
would you consider doing something like this yourself? are you most likely to play? anything you like to add or suggest i should not do in the game?

I rcv’d a lot of the same thing, meaning a lot of baby bibs, onesies and zip ups and also a lot of bibs. I do not need that many and would like to rtn them for things that I would use.
How do I tactfully ask for the rcpts? In this day and age anything that I need to rtn needs a rcpt. Very frustrating.
Thanks
I wish that they would take the items back without receipts.
Target would not let me return without a receipt. But they will let you use your license 2 times to return items within a years time but it seems that I have used up those 2 times.
K-Mart has a no receipt no return policy also.
I do have Wal-Mart items to return. They still have part of the green price sticker on the items so I don’t believe that that will be a problem.
From what I researched Kohl’s, J C Penney and Babies R us are all ok without a receipt.

And also how big was your baby? I bought a few newborn size clothes and also quite a few 0-3 month clothes, my MIL the other day was telling me that was dumb because if I have a big baby (which my doctor already confirmed I more then likely will) he wont even fit into the newborn size and probably wont fit into the 0-3, then she went onto say how her friends daughters had a big baby (9 pounds 9 ounces) didnt fit into anything except 6-9 month outfits since she was born, so now I am freaking out cause I am not sure if I still have the receipts and I’ve already started washing them. I only have like 3-4 newborn size, quite a few 0-3 month, quite a few 3-6 month sizes and hardly any 6-9 months yet. Is she right?
I was a 9 pound 8 ounce baby I havent asked my mother yet if I fit into newborn size or 0-3 month…oh and then I was telling my MIL how the I think 0-3 month says it fits up to 18 pounds and she started laughing and saying how the tags are never right and they would never fit an 18 pound baby and how nieve I was being

Our baby boy is due October 11th. A few of my gfs threw me a shower last weekend and they made a up a clotheslines of cute baby clothes. (They took the tags off.) I already bought a bunch of baby clothes as well beforehand and my mom already bought some clothes too. I think my MIL bought some clothes and my SIL too. Honestly we are all set with clothes, especially newborn clothes. I have a family shower this weekend of older relatives and older friends of my moms. My mom told everyone where I was registered for the things we need. My mom said an aunt told her she was going to JC penney and buying clothes for the baby. I did not register there. I was at a baby shower a couple of months ago, and it seemed that no one bought things off her registry, just bought a ton of clothes. she got way too many clothes, and they weren’t for the appropriate season with no receipts. I am not ungrateful for any gift, I just want it to be useful. Did this happen to you or someone you know?
I did not register for clothes for this reason.

I am a first time mom whose 4 month old is just out grown her 3-6 clothing. It is so hard to even purchase 2 months ahead (I keep all receipts and leave the tags on instead of pulling them all off and washing items…learned lesson). It is always hard to buy in season even for a baby unless you want the leftovers. I am finding that there is very little in the 9-12 month category as babies seem to be between infant and toddler stage. I am also frustrated as we are going on a cruise at the very end of April and I am struggling between 6-9 and 12 months for clothing (I am stuck with tons of summer clothing in the 6-9 range and I fear that will be too small). Department stores do not have any fancy dresses in the 6-9 or 12 month. We have a Carter’s outlet (which is nice as they take back tagged items forever). I have also purchased basics at Target, Walmart, Kohls and Macy’s. I can not find many pjs in th 12 month range as well. Any input would be appreciated!!!
Thank you
