She has, for the last month, been climbing up the stairs without us even watching her. Since she is so good at it, I don’t even fret about it. I would like to encourage her more often to go down the stairs on her stomach, but she seems disinterested in going down, though she will if we require her to. Still, I think not having a baby gate at the bottom rapidly increased her skill level, strength, and safety using the stairs and I think we are better off because we never had one. All of our neighbor’s with similar aged babies have them, and wonder why we don’t.
To clear up any confusion, my daughter has never had one at the bottom of the stairs, ever. She is 12.5 months old and why have a baby gate when you can just close your child’s door isntead? Much like my neighbor’s backyard fence they installed to trap their daughter, I think it’s easier and more useful to "teach them" as opposed to restricting them. We were the same with her walking, she was doing it at 10.5 months and now walks quickly and well without assistance.

She climbs up the stairs barefoot. My goal is for her to learn how to safely get down the stairs and I will supervise and work with her until she is confident in her abilities. We often times let her climb up the stairs unsupervised. My wife did not like at first, but she now agrees that my daughter can climb without our staring her down. Over protective neighbor’s and friends still think it’s crazy, but I think they are just lazy parents/teachers.
It’s not about convenience Brooke, it’s about teaching them and their practicing. No way do I agree that it’s more convenient NOT to have gates than to have them. That’s just ridiculous. Lazy parents have gates, engaging parents teach.
OK, I think the most frustrating part of the comments is people commenting that my daughter "can’t possibly" be able to do this on her own. Yet again this morning she did without fail. For the record, we do have carpet on our stairs so perhaps that is why I am comfortable with it. At 8 months, she held herself on a pull up bar during baby gym class, and at one year we saw her lift a bocci ball all on her own and those things are heavy. So, perhaps your problem is lack of practice, don’t fear your children, let them build their muscles instead.

The mother is retarded herself and lives somehwere in Las Vegas and the father a mind of a 12 year old child and lives in Henderson. When the parents did live together at one point in time this child lived in filth, let’s just say a pig lives better. The mother abandonned this child and never once come to see this child in 7 moths. The father has her but lives in filth, trash everywhere, dishes never cleaned,the child stinks, the child wears clothes that does not fit and the father has not bothered to get this child any and hopeing that others will feel sorry for the child and him and take it upon themselves and do it so that he won’t have too. The way he treats his dog he treats this child, never doing anything with this child but waits monthly for the check he gets for her. I can’t be in the middle of this for I will be hurting this child but also helping this child as well. I just need help for I’m tired of being in the moiddle and not answering questions when they need to be answered for I will find myself in the streets too. I hope no one in his famoily sees this for I will surley be on the streets quickley like in days or hours whith my clothes. Please someone help for I have nothing but the desert to look forward to live at and the child with the father in filth. I have much more to say but cannot. Please help this child.

HOME BOOT/DETENTION CAMP RULES.
1 the childs room is emptied of EVERYTHING except bed, desk and chair for schoolwork and cupboard
2 the child is not allowed to speak unless spoken to first.
3 the child must address his parents as sir or miss.
4 they must stand to attention in the presence of an adult, and during all inspections
5 the can"t wear what clothes they want, these are chosen by you normally school clothes shirt tie etc,
6 they are given 3 basic meals a day that they eat in their room, no tea,coffee of fizzy drinks water only.
7 the child MUST obey ALL rules at ALL times and complaint will result in the boot camp being extended.
THE HOME BOOT/DETENTION CAMP TIMETABLE GOES SOMETHING LIKE THIS.
SATURDAY 6 am ALARM CALL: the child gets up and washed and dressed.
6 30am CLOTHES INSPECTION: the child is inspected to make sure they are smartly dressed tie done up and shoes polished.
6 45am BREAKFAST IN ROOM.
7 am ROOM CLEANING : the child cleans and tidys their room
7 30 am ROOM INSPECTION: the child stands to attention while the parent inspects childs room.
7 45 am LUNDRY DUTIES: the child does everyones laundry.
9 am—- 10 30am PUNISHMENT ESSAYS: the child is confined to their room and is set essays on why it is wrong to steal and lie.
10 30am TOILET CLEANING AND FLOOR SCRUBBING: the child cleans the bathroom and scrubs all the floors in the house.
12 am TOILET AND FLOOR INSPECTION.
12 15pm LUNCH IN ROOM.
12 45pm—2 pm BEDROOM CONFINEMENT:the child is confined to their room and their bedroom door is locked, the child is not allowed to sleep.
2pm– 3pm UNLOCK FOLLOWED BY IRONING DUTIES.
3pm IRONING INSPECTION:
3pm– 4 30pm ADDITIONAL SCHOOLWORK: the child stays in their room and writes more essays and lines.
4 30 pm SHOE POLISHING
5 pm SHOE INSPECTION.
5 15pm DINNER IN ROOM.
5 45 pm TOTAL LOCKDOWN: the child is locked in their bedroom for the night,
8pm LIGHTS OUT: the child is instructed to turn out the lights and go to bed,
SUNDAY 6am the boot camp starts again.

In one pic I had him dressed in shorts, long black socks and tennis shoes. My younger son still wears short black socks with shorts once and a while. i am guessing i was at a baby store and i has holding two twins on my both side of my hips they looked around 6 months old, my current boyfriend was behind me pushing the buggy while i told him to get the items needed they where clothes,bottles,and dippers, we bought them and left the store
the end

i had a dream the next night, about being at a store with my parents and i was looking at baby clothes but there where no babies and i was scared my mom would see me looking at the clothes because she would think i was pregnant
