‘Fess up if ya did
How many of you parents went out and bought a ton of expensive baby shoes only to really realize that your baby will never walk in them? I think I spent on a pair of black dress shoes for my son when he was 2 months old for Easter Sunday…. Now I feel like a yuppie….
Any other parents out there do the same?

I was given a bunch of stuff to try and sell at a garage sale, and have some good quality baby items left over (clothes, a few new bottles and some sort of educational bouncer seat). I really don’t want to simply give it to just anyone on Craig’s list, and there are no nearby pregnancy centers that are still operating. Obviously people who use WIC services are lower income families, so do the WIC offices accept used baby items for the needy parents?
Thanks for the website, Carrie!

I’m not too familiar with premies, but I have a child in my room at the daycare I work at. He is 14 months old, size 3-6 month clothes are baggy on him, his soft spot is about the size of the top of a soda can and it is sunken in a pretty good bit. He crawls and pulls himself up but when assisted to walk he stiffens himself up to where he is very rigid and wont move anything. Is this normal for infants this age and being premature, or is there something wrong.
Also the childs physican has stated that he is normal size for his age group and that he has no medical problems at all when the child has sever exemia.
He was a month premature
Per talking to another relative of the child that comes to the center. The parents put regular baby lotion on his skin and it does nothing for it. I have asked the parents question about this child and they seem very distant, the only thing I have obtained from them is that he will be on formula until he is two years old.

Hi my friends were talking in school today about having a baby shower for one of our friends who just got pregnant. Since we all support equal rights for men and women we want to invite the baby’s father and any of the boys we know. I know my boyfriend Jamie who is a friend of the 14 year old father would love to come and participate. A few of the girls said that the parents might object. Why would they? Oh her parents decided not to make her a nun because they don’t think she could get with the program. The baby’s father says he loves her and wants to be part of her life and the child’s life. Her parents told her that she cn still see him as long as she promises never never again until she turns 18. Also she wants her boy to have visitation on the baby on weekends (the baby would stay with his parents and during the week her parents would have the baby.) Anyway what do all of you think about a baby shower for her it would make her feel better.
My friend is 13 too NOT 12. She just got confirmed pregnant by her doctor because she missed her period and had to tell her parents how far their relationship had gotten. She thought that if she let him without protection close to the start of her period she wouldnt get pregnant. He kept on begging her to let him that way and she gave in. Oh welll!!! Oh ya, Jamie’s mom was an unwed mother too but a few years older and she’s the strictest parent you could imagine. Like on school nights he still has to go to bed at 8:30 pm. And after my friend got pregnant and everyone knew she had a heart to heart talk with the both of us and made us PROMISE NEVER GO THAT FAR!!! My parents did the same thing.
I love all your answers (well most answers anyway). I’m going to let this go to voting. My mom and some of the other parents are going to help us out in having a shower but like a few of you said its too soon so in a few more months. We hugged and kissed and cried a little but she knows that her friends are with her and love her and know she’s going to make a great mother. I told her don’t be like Jamies mom and treat him (or her) like a baby at 13. I told you like Jamie is the only 13 yr old boy who has an 8:30 bedtime and has warm milk and cookies with his mom cuddling him at bedtime. Oh welllll!! When he grows up he won’t have an 8:30 bedtime because he’ll be too busy making his wife happy in bed ME lol lol).

I am just curious why people feel the need to do this. I just posted a question about where I can get free toddler clothing. Everyone should know by now that the economy is not great and people are getting laid of left and right. The bad economy just caught up with us. The result short 2 month a cut in hours. Why do people feel the need to bash parents because of this?
I also forgot to add that before the cut we where making about ,500 a month.

My son is almost 2, I am pregnant with our third, due in Feb, I’ve got two toddler beds and one crib. So I was planning on getting him into a toddler bed before Feb anyway but hadn’t put much thought into it. But now my son has figured out how to get out of the crib, so I guess now would be a good time to start. My daughter is 4, I don’t remember having a problem with her, she was so much more advanced and I was a single mother at the time so she had always slept with me in a real bed not a crib so moving her to her own bed was really easy. So even though he is my second I feel kinda clueless on how to go about getting him to start sleeping in a toddler bed. He was a premie and seems a little slower with his learning and I know that he will be up and down all night and that he will get into things quietly that we may not hear right away. I know a lot of kids do that. We block off most of the house with baby gates but now he can climb over those too. continued read on….
I am not a deep sleeper and most of the time I hear every little thing, but he has gotten up a few times when I didn’t hear him until 10 min or so later, estimating. I’m wondering if there are any parents out there that have found tecniques that have worked for them when it comes to this. I have no ideas. So any advice would help. How did you get your child to start sleeping in a toddler bed?
