I bought her this cute little pair of Nikes and they are to big for her. So, I am gonna take them back but how do I know what size to get? Do they have on of those little foot measuring things for newborns?

I’m currently 30 weeks pregnant and finishing up my shopping for baby. I want to get him 2 pair of newborn pants, 2 pair newborn shorts and like a 5 pack of newborn onesies but my husband and I have been arguing about this because he claims newborns don’t wear the newborn size they start wearing 0-3 months right when they come out! I personally think he’s wrong so I’m just wondering how many people had babies in newborn size and how long was your baby in newborn size?
I am soon to be mom and I need to start registering for my baby shower… I just don’t know where to start! I need a checklist of just essentials I’m going to need for my newborn comming soon. Honestly, I’ve been lagging on buying baby stuff, mostly because I don’t want a lot of clothes laying around and wish to wait ’til the baby is born to buy specific gender clothes. This is my second baby in two years, so I have an idea of what is most needed for newborns, but I’d like some help on things I might have forgotten.
So far I have
Two small boxes of Huggies Newborn diapers
3pk Vent Aire Bottles
2pk A-Vent Bottles
Newborn pacifier
3-6m pacifier
New bobby pillow
1 3pk of newborn shirts with the mitten cuff
2 5pks of 5-8lbs onsies
2 5pks of 8-10lbs(I think) onsies
New baby bath and foam pad
2 baby hooded towels
4 baby washcloths
Basic baby safety kit(nose sucker/thermometer/clippers/etc)
Crib
2 new crib sheets
1 4pk of recieving blankets
New travel size swing
Bottles rack(orginally my son’s)
What I know I need

Baby washing soap
Wipes!!
Blankets
Bottle brush
Latex nipples for bottles
Formula(if I don’t breastfeed)

Newborn pants

More recieving blankets/towels/newborn shirts
Basically it, I plan on buying clothes and toys as the baby grows because I know they don’t need much as newborns but the basics.
Is there anything else I need to buy before the baby comes? I know I need to stock up on wipes and diapers and I will, these are the things I basically have right now and will get more later.
Oh yes, I know I forgot SOCKS!! How many packs do I need to buy??
Also, I wasn’t planning on having another baby for years, so I ended up giving away most of my son’s old bouncers/walker and stuff to charity before I found out I was expecting ^.^ good thing I kept the strollar and carseat 
I believe that newborn children should be named after family members or friends close to the family and books from the Bible. I do not believe that newborns should be named after actors and/or athletics.
I didn’t know if that was a good thing to do or not. I know diapers can be expensive, so I thought I might start buying the on sale sometimes. But I was wondering if I should or not, because I know some newborns don’t actually fit into the newborn size or whatever. So, what do you think? Also, what do you think is the best brand to buy? I do most of my shopping at Target.

I’ve had experience working with small children for years, but never "newborns." I work in the infant room at my church daycare every other sunday for 2 hours, but most parents don’t feel comfortable leaving their little-little ones, and most children are at least 5 months.
On the occasion that we get some 3 month olds, they sleep the whole time.
I’m afraid I’m going to feel very awkward holding my baby, bathing my baby, nursing my baby. Just because it’s stuff that I’ve never done before.
How long did it take you to get comfortable with the baby?
And how long did it take for daddy to get comfortable with the baby?
I’m starting a nursery class at my church for newborns to 2 years old. I was looking for some ideas on what to do with the kids. I have a 2 year old and a newborn so I sorta have an idea of what the kids will be able to do. My pastor is going to order some materials but that will take a few weeks and I want to start the class this Sunday. Right now my only ideas are to make coloring sheets with the alphabet and a picture that goes with it (A is for Angel, B is for Bible, etc) and to read Bible stories. Any other ideas?
