Do I HAVE to use Dreft for my newborn clothes?

I just had my baby shower and received TONS of clothes and blankets, of course I want to wash them and have them ready for when my baby comes. Do I HAVE to use baby detergent (like Dreft) or is it ok if I just use my regular laundry detergent???

My three year old has developed an allergic reaction to laundry detergent. With working with his Dr. we have pretty much narrowed it down to the detergent, and I switched to All Free. However, he still breaks out horribly and itches so badly. Does any one know what kind of detergent or anything that can be used to wash his clothes in so this will not happen. Thanks

What kind of laundry detergent do I use?

My grandmother told me I had to get special laundry detergent, my father told me to use Ivory Soap, but I know they have special laundry detergent for infant clothes so that it won’t affect their skin. Is this really necessary? We use Gain now. I just don’t really know I’m just waiting for her to be born. Thanks! *39 weeks*

I have a baby on the way, and was wondering what kind of laundry detergent to use to wash his clothes. Some of them are used and I want to make sure they are cleaned well. Is it really necessary to use that special non fragrent dreft detergent?

Cloth diapering mommies?

We are expecting baby #2 at the end of April (though it looks like she’ll be here sooner do to hypertension and preeclampsia issues) Anyway, for this baby we have decided to spend the extra money up front to save in the long run by using cloth diapers. We have already ordered them and will be using the new Flip System by Bumgenius diapers with the organic inserts. My question is how many inserts and covers do you use? how often do you have to do laundry? What do you use to rinse them? And what laundry detergent do you find best to wash them in? Also i know your supposed to line dry the covers but where we live makes it a little difficult to line dry them outside, can I just use a towel rack or shower curtain rod as our makeshift "clothes line" inside?
Thanks so much for any tips and advice!

I’m trying to figure out why my daughter’s white shirts always end up being permanently stained yellow?? She hasn’t spilled anything yellow on herself in particular? I wash my whites in bleach, I try to pre-soak, pre-stain…nothing I do works. Is it something else? Do they purposely make toddler clothes this way so you have to buy more? None of my own clothing or my fiance’s clothing is stained this way so I know it’s not my washer? Any ideas?
I should clarify that I wash the whites with normal laundry detergent, but then add about 1/2 cup of bleach. And no, our own white shirts are not stained this way, even when they’re in the exact same load.

I am trying to find a laundry detergent for baby clothes that smells good that I can also use for regular clothes. I like my clothes to smell good and I always try to buy the kind with added scents but they never come out smelling like they are supposed to. But I want something that I can use for baby clothes too.
