Wavy Baby Blanket–Crochet?

I am trying to read the pattern for making a crochet wavy baby blanket. This pattern is found in a book called "I Taught Myself’" by Boye. There is one specific area that I am having trouble interpreting

One part of the instruction says: sc in the next 5 ch +

I think this can be interpreted as: single crochet in the next 5 chains…HOWEVER, I can’t not figure out the purpose of the plus sign…It is included in the instructions…just like the mathematical sign. Please help! Thank you :)
This is what it says:

Set-up Row: Beg in second ch from hook, sc in second ch and in next ch; skip 1 ch, sc in next 5 ch, * work 3 sc in next ch, sc in next 5 ch +, skip next 2 ch, sc in next 5 ch; repeat from * across, ending last rep at +, skip 1 ch, sc in last 2 ch; turn.

~~Thank you all for your responses and help.
Iron_Plague: Thank you for your response. Please look at my additional details…This is how the pattern is written in the book.

DR + Mrs Bears Face: This is from a book I purchased. I have written the first part of the pattern above.

Mary: Yes this book does have a list of symbols in the front of the book, but this symbol is not included. That is why I am a bit confused.

I am trying to follow a pattern but I have no idea what it is asking me to do. I’ve started with my basic chain the next step is what I cannot figure out. The instructions say "shell in 6th ch from hook (first 5 skip chs count as a dc and 2 skip chs)." Any help would be helpful.

Pregnant and getting married, HELP!!!!?

My fiance and I belong to a fairly strict religious tradition, although we don’t practice. Oddly enough, both of our family’s do and so we are having a huge ceremony in a state that we don’t live in two weeks from now. Part of this belief system is the whole chastity up until the ceremony thing. The thing is I got pregnant a few months ago and there are definite signs of a baby bump. I am okay as far as concealing it in regular clothes. With jeans and a loose shirt and cami, I am fine. But I am really skinny and small boned and my wedding dress is, of course, really form fitting up top since I didn’t want a big poofball of a dress. I saw some things on line that you can wear under wedding dresses that are like strapless bra girdles that hook all the way down to your hips and ordered one. Is it safe for me to wear this for around six to eight hours? As soon as the wedding is over the fams will know, but I don’t want to embarrass my parents and my fiance’s parents in front of all their friends and church members that have been invited.

I have purchased 2 different colors of yarn, i have 800 yards for each color…is this enough to crochet a blanket (for an adult) using a size H/8-5.00MM crochet hook? (800 yards is alot but i got it on ebay lol so it was a good price!)

The kind where the hook part isn’t all sharp and scratchy, but actually feels just kinda bumpy? And is freakishly strong so the kid can’t rip it off? I want to make my sister a few bibs, but I can’t find any velcro like that.
You actually get velcro samples in the newspaper? Every week? What a strange thing to distribute with the daily periodical.

I tried searching, but I didn’t know what to search for. Thanks.

I am crocheting a baby blanket for my coworker who is due in January, and I was wondering what the dimensions should be, in feet by feet, or inches by inches. If anyone is curious, I am using Sugar N Cream in it’s "Lime Stripes" self-striping variety. I am crocheting it using a G-10.5 hook.
