**Sorry for double-post. I put one in home & garden because there are very clever handy people there but also I know experienced parents are a treasure trove of knowledge and help too!
I’ve got several baby gates that I need to install. Most are pressure mounted but I have 2 that will have to be screwed into the wall.
The problem is I have ornate baseboards all over the house and to make it worse downstairs we have wooden floors so under the baseboards there are additional rounded pieces of wood baseboard that match the wood flooring; kind of like this: http://www.rags2richs.net/kenny-baseboar…
I have no flat space to work with. I’ve seen the baby gate installation kits but the pictures show flat baseboards. What can I do without ripping the baseboards out to create a flat surface? I can’t just drill wood into the baseboard because of the decoration.
We thought about mounting them higher up on the wall above the baseboards. That would leave about a 4 or 5 inch gap between the bottom of the gates and the floor.
Is that safe? I guess a little head can’t fit under there so it must be, right?
I mean the kiddos try to climb them and stick arms through the bars regardless of how close the gates are to the ground anyway, right?
(Obvious first time parent here!)
