My daughter gets everything on her clothes. I’ve tried couple stain treatments but they don’t seem to work that well. On her lighter color clothes, it actually leaves yellowish stain where the detergent was treated and on darker clothes, it makes the clothes bleed its color.

What do you use to take off stain off clothes without ruining the garment?

How to properly wash cloth diapers?

I have some AIO pocket diapers with snaps for my daughter and I’m new to cloth diapering. The diapers are from a very small company and came with minimal washing instructions. Would it increase the life of the diapers if I turn them inside out? Also, what do you recommend for detergent? (High Efficiency detergents, please).

Thanks!

How do I know how many cloth diapers to get?

Everything I read has different advice on how many diapers you will need. I’m 32 weeks right now and trying to make sure we a re prepared. We will be primarily using SposoEasys all in ones purchased from Green Mountain Diapers. How many smalls should I get to start with? What about doublers? What detergent do you prefer?
I am open for any advice other cloth mama’s have. Thanks.

I have a 9 yr old Electric Kenmore Super Heavy Duty clothes dryer that has decided not to “turn off”. The only way it does not run is to have the door open.

It started this weekend. When I added a couple of items to the dryer and I did not need to push the start button I just thought the detergent was pressing it and moved it. It was set for Time Dry and when I though it had been running too I checked and pulled the clothes out. Then I saw the dryer had cycled through "Time Dry" and was on "Air Dry". I moved the dial to "Off" for "Air Dry" and about 10 min later it went on again for "Auto Dry". I moved the dial to "Off" for "Auto Dry" and about 10 min later it went on again for "Time Dry". I tried a computer trick – unplugged it for 5 min and plugged it back in – did not work!

HELP – I have 3 kids – an active 9 yr old and 2 toddlers and need my dryer!

Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated.

At my infant care class at my hospital, I was told I could simply wash baby’s clothes and sheets with our own using the detergent we always use. I was surprised, but was told that it was completely unnecessary to spend the extra money (water, energy, detergent) on washing everything separately. So I was wondering if I could also use a liquid fabric softener like I use with our other clothes. I forgot to ask that in my class. Oops!

What do you use to clean your cloth diapers?

There seems to be so many different products out there and for a first time mom it all seems a little dizzying. I’m growing tired of having to "strip" my diapers because of not using correct detergent. I’m willing to order good stuff that works ofline if somebody would just tell me it works for them!

Fox news is reporting lead paint found in Baby Bibs sold by Toy’s R’ Us. What else is next?

A few years ago, the plastic in some sippy cups contained the chemical, Bisphenol A (BPA). It was discovered that this toxic agent began to breakdown when washed in detergent exposing our children. When tested, this agent caused pronounced deformities in mice. Yet, some sippy cups are still are being produced containing Bisphenol A and have not been pulled from shelves. Depending on which article you read some say that the exposure is low.

I’ve said it before, "what better way for a country to incapacitate a generation, or generations, through exposing them to poisons and toxins." Who knows what chemicals/poisons are found in nursing bottles, pacifiers, nipples, etc. Could this be the reason for the increase in Autism?

Foreign countries have fewer regulations than products made by our own companies here in the USA.

I currently use Purex Natural Elements for the household. It’s free of dyes and hypoallergenic, but it does have "Natural Fragrance Extracts" that I’m worried about. I’ve planned on using this detergent, with less than normal amounts per load, with an extra rinse per cycle for our first baby. Do you think the natural fragrance extract is something to worry about?
