Have you or anyone you know bought this baby gate?

I need to buy a babygate for my daycare, from my dining room to living room, (the doorway is about 50 inches across) so I was looking online for a wide one. I found one but I’m unsure if I should get it since it has no reviews. Do you or anyone you know have the following gate? Would you recommend it?

My granddaughter is stealing things.?

She’s 6 years old. She lives with me as well as her mother. Parents not on speaking terms. Dad just got remarryed. He has a new step baby. Her time is spent equally between both parents. She has been coming home from school and daycare with other kids toys, clothes, and things and tries to tell us she got them from her dads house. She even took home a childs glasses.

She shares a room with me. Lately she has started "hoarding" things. Dolls, toys, baby clothes, food and even my best jewelery either beside the bed next to the wall or under the bed.

This is driving me nuts since I have no idea how to deal with this. Per daycare she does this when her step mom picks her up to.

Any suggestions?

Never been a mom before and plan to use cloth diapers for the majority of occasions. The daycare Ive chosen said that they would secure the cloth diapers like they do soiled clothing for me to take home every evening but now I dont know how many diapers in each size to buy to cover daycare needs and not run out while home (I will have disposable for back up, but prefer cloth most times).

Since Im new at this, I need to know the following:
1) How often do newborn diapers get changed? Should I estimate 12 per day (1 per every 2 hours on average)? And if so, buy 12 cloth diapers in each size or, buy 24 of each size just to be ‘safe’?

I plan to wash the diapers every night considering I think its pretty gross to have dirty diapers laying around waiting…. but again, I dont know, how often did you wash yours childs? And, how did you wash it most effectively?

Thanks!

Does your daycare provide formula and baby food

Our baby has just started daycare, and they provide formula, baby food, bibs, and blankets. They get a certain amount of formula from the government based on income of enrolled families (kind of like free and reduced lunch), so they provide it for all the babies. Is this pretty standard for most daycares? I realize that some of their expenses are built into the weekly cost (washing the bibs and stuff), but I was curious if this was normal or if we lucked out. Thanks!

baby boy clothes?

I want to find some chic baby boy clothes but with a low price online. I don’t want the usual, babygap, target, walmart, etc. I want something unique but super cheap prices.

I just want my son to look different at daycare (I hope I don’t sound snobby) but all the other toddlers have carters, etc. and I want something nobody else will have, but at a good price; something cute, stylish. I just want to have fun with my baby boy but I can’t find anything at a low price. Can you help me?
Let me state again I already know about all the stores that are popular, I want to know anything UNPOPULAR, I am not sure if that is the correct term, but nothing like old navy, target, walmart, jcpenny, kohls, meijer, carters, babies r us, etc……………..
Carebear: I want to have fun, you must be a mean old ugly hag. I smell a troll…

Is this infant abuse?

I need a bit od advice. I have an 8 month old son, and my sister has a 6 month old daughter. My son has been ahead of the milestones for development since around 2 months. He is very active and now "cruising" and almost walking. I spend a lot of time working with him and encouraging him to be confident in trying new things. My neice is dramatically diferent. She isn’t rolling over yet, not sitting except in those new rubbery foam type of baby seats, doesn’t raise up on her arms when on her tummy, not eating baby foods yet- only formula, and is only making minimal sounds. I realize that all babies do things on their own time and you can’t really compare two babies. So that’s why it’s hard for me to tell if she’s just taking her time or if she’s not being interacted with and loved as she needs to be since my son did all of these things so quickly. Aside from the physical signs, my sister never packs her bags adequately. She stayed the night over the wknd and was only packed summer clothes, it was around 50 degrees and rainy. no socks and shoes didn’t fit. Everytime that we go to dinner or anything they have to borrow my sons formula because they forget it, they use the same kind. Last night the whole family met at a restaurant for a birthday dinner. My Mom had picked her up from daycare and was bringing her. Both of her parents had been at home and could have brought any items for her. She only had her bag from daycare, with no bottles or formula left, no wipes and 1 diaper. But this isn’t isolated, it’s everytime they pack her things for the day she’s missing essential items. It seem very neglectful to me. Also, they’re always rescheduling and canceling doctors appointments and then i never hear anything else about them taking her. She’s been congested for about a month now, and it doesn’t seem that they’re even concerned enough about that to take her to the doc. My sister thinks i’m extreme with how I raise my son in that i make his baby food and really study up on developmental phases and theories. I just want to be the best mom for him i can be. But this is why she blows me off when i tell her my concerns.

SO… after all of that venting, does it seem that I’m being overly concerned or does it seem like neglect in your opinion? This is the first child for both of us some I’m always wavering on whether these things are normal or not. Thank you so much in advance, I love these kids with all that i am and only want the best for them.

My 11 month old has had a real run of it this winter. Every virus that can hit her has– she has a 5 year old brother and they are in daycare together in the worst virus season on record. I can’t wait for May!

Here’s the situation:
2 weeks ago she got tonsillitis (yeah an 11 month old!) and developed a double ear infection as a result (she is super prone to resistant ear infections– we go to the ENT in a few weeks.) She was put on Augmentin– which is very strong and upsets her stomach sometimes. We give her Florastor at 2 feedings a day when she has an antibiotic to try and keep her little digestive system healthy. 4 days into the antibiotic, she caught her brother’s stomach virus. Last Wednesday she had diarrhea 16 times and no wet diapers. She also developed a yeast infection in her diaper area very rapidly (not shocking considering.) Her doctor gave us Nystatin to apply 4 times a day for a week. The diarrhea is just subsiding now and she had her last antibiotic dose this morning. The yeast (which was just red and irritated and PAINFUL) was looking better yesterday, now looks less widespread, but seems to have moved from the front of her pubic area to her leg creases and labia. It has also gotten little white pimples or blisters. Obviously I’ll call her doctor in the morning and back we’ll go, but are there any words of wisdom from someone who’s been there?

We are keeping her diaper area very clean, bathing her in colloidal oatmeal for the irritation and using a zinc-based cream when not applying the Nystatin. Oh– she’s teething too. POOR THING!

Thank you for your advice!
I LOVE YOU BOTH!!! I am going to work with both excellent suggestions– the Domeboro sounds like what we should do first– do you get yours from a specialty-type pharmacy or could i do Target?
The yogurt is helpful too and I looked up pau d’arco and it gave me a great idea. We live in Austin and the seasonal mold is horrible at times here. The mold allergies make us so miserable. We will try the tea for that. I may also try it on baby’s diaper area tomorrow.

Only problem now– picking a "best answer" tomorrow!
