Third hand smoke and new baby…?

My sister, and father in law both smoke… alot. They reek of cigarette and I find the smell quite disgusting. Now, I dont mind the fact that they smoke, its just that I am afraid that the clothes will contain too much tobacco (and other substances) that when they hold the newborn baby, my poor little one will be breathing it in. A baby has small lungs, and I feel that it will do damage.
If the baby understood smoking and the problems it causes, then sure my baby can make the decision to be held by a smoker, but no they can not, and I dont feel comfortable putting my childs health in jeopardy.

Is it wrong for me to ask them to change clothes and brush teeth before they hold the baby?
I know some people will argue that there is no evidence is does any harm, but there is no evidence saying that there is, and I want my child to choose what he/she wants in life, without me interfering. I dont want my child to get sick because of this, because in the end its my fault, and personally I dont think I should be responsible for being at fault, and I should avoid what I can so they can make their own choices when old enough to understand them.
BTW there is such thing as THIRD HAND SMOKE… google it before sounding so stupid and giving a pointless answer.

I trying to find some soft shoes for my son to wear, just to keep his feet covered at daycare. Retailers have rows and rows of shoes for infant and toddler girls, but only have 2 or 3 choices if any for boys.

We just started shopping for newborn bedding and I was not aware of the many choices out there. I am interested in hearing what other people used and if they are happy with that choice.

Did you use a crib, bassinet, co-sleeper, or other?
Did your baby sleep in the same bedroom as you or in a nursery?
What are the pros AND cons of your choice?

i am due to have my baby girl within the next week and am wondering which of these two options would be better for her in her first few days of life. the first is for me to bring her back to my parents’ house. the second is to bring her to my boyfriend’s apartment. but both of these choices have things that make them not good choices.

1. parents’ house
- my little (5-year-old) brother has recently been getting very sick with the flu and other childhood illnesses and i really would not want my newborn to get sick especially since i’ve heard that infants in some cases can die from the flu.
- i would most likely have to keep the child in my room upstairs which at times can get quite hot (even though the house has central air) and the temperature in my room reaches about the mid-eighties even at night and i don’t think it would be good for an infant to be in conditions that hot.
- my parents are really not the best people in the world to be around. my father constantly yells and flips out and puts me down and tells me i’m worthless and i often end up crying (because of him) and i don’t think that stressful of an environment would be good for the baby to be around.

2. boyfriend’s (father of the baby’s) apartment
- it’s on the third floor of an apartment building in the middle of the city of coatesville (not really a good location) and i’m not sure that being in the middle of the city is the best place for an infant to be (the apartment has gotten broken into before by 9 guys who were carrying knives).
- my boyfriend lives with his older brother and now his brother’s girlfriend and their cousin are there too and they all smoke (weed and cigarettes) and i know for sure that is not a good thing to have around a baby although they smoke on the other side of the apartment from where the baby would be so very little smoke if any at all would ever reach the baby but the smoke is a big worry of mine.
- there’s a cat and two ferrets there the cat just wanders everywhere in the apartment (it’s my boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend’s cat) and it hasn’t been there long and i don’t really know if any harm could come to the baby from the cat the ferrets are in a cage so i’m not too worried about them other than the smell that always comes from the cage (even a few minutes after it gets cleaned and they get bathed) but what’s worrying me is what if the baby is allergic to the cat i am afraid i wouldn’t even be able to tell.

so those are the main problems with the two places i can go please tell me which sounds like the lesser of the two evils to bring a child into cause i really am not sure.

and yes i have to choose one of the two i am only seventeen and still have a year of high school left and i don’t plan on dropping out so i can’t really get my own place just yet. and my boyfriend is only turning seventeen in a few days so he is unable to get his own place yet at least until he gets his license next month. so please tell me which place would be better i am really unsure how to decide.

thank you all in advance for any input i get.

looking for Target 2005 baby fleece blanket?

Help! My daughter who is now 3 is hopelessly attached to her lightweight fleece blanket that I got at Target in 2005 – they don’t make them anymore!

Any ideas where I can find this blanket? In 2005 they made light green ones with circles (various colors), light green with squares of various colors, a yellow with penguins, and a yellow with stars and moons, among other choices.

I’m desperately searching for where I might find a couple "back up" blankets!
Thank you!

My daughter gets 2 choices in the morning for what she can wear that day, but I never seem to pick anything she wants to wear and I end up having to find exactly what she wants. It ends up taking quite longer than needed, but I don’t mind.

Do you give your toddlers choices or do they just wear whatever you pick for them?
My daughter is 2 (28 months).

She used to not care, but within the past 2 months, she has become all about choices and want to choose things.

Mens Names Clothing Line For Metrosexuals?

I kinda asked this question before but didn’t really say that I wasn’t having a baby. Starting a clothing line. I want a name that starts with an A because designers are listed it’s usually alphabetical with the first name. I am also from Orange County CA and want to add OC to the name. These are my some choices but willing to take suggestions. Right now designing cool men’s underwear, sexy swimwear & men’s casual wear. Just tossing around ideas on names right now but here are the ones I like.

Which name do you like better
Alexander King of OC
Alexander Knight of OC
August King of OC
August Knight of OC
Aaron King of OC
Austin King of OC
