I’m talking clothes, blankets, toys, car seats. THE WORKS. I’m thrifty, most of my baby things are family hand-me-downs or straight bought from someone on the fabulous craigslist. I thought washing once with hot water and an extra rinse cycle should do it, for clothing. And since I’m not due for another 4 weeks I kind of want to spray the toys and stroller down with Lysol now. Any tips? should I wash these things twice?

So Is it ok to throw a shower if the older child is 6. Having no baby things kinda qualifies a baby shower right? Some say no but if you dont have anything whatever can you do. A lunch-in after baby cant happen if you dont have anything?

I am pregnant around 7 weeks and I can’t wait until I start showing and feel the baby move. How far do I have until all that starts? When should I buy baby things?

My friend just had a baby girl and I want to get her some baby things, like pacifiers, with Tinkerbell on them. My friend LOVES Tinkerbell, so I thought she would enjoy that.
I looked at the Disney Store in my mall, and they don’t carry any baby items.

I know it’s awful but does anyone else besides me get just the tiniest feeling of glee when one of those outrageously expensive and super trendy baby products gets recalled for safety reasons? I live in CT and there’s a shopping area not far from me where all the snobby SAHMs stroll along with their 700-1200 dollar strollers, babies all dolled up in Janie and Jack or whatever All-organic trendy boutique outfit they found, etc. They sit at Starbucks and chat about how they have already filled out applications for thier 3 month olds to attend the best pre-schools around, blah-blah-blah…

Don’t get me wrong, I think a lot of expensive baby things are very nice. I would certainly buy all organic clothing and specail cloth diapers (but not at a pop) if I could afford them… but it’s the way they carry the babies around like a fashion accessory and look down on someone who can’t afford to spend on an all organic outfit for their child to outgrow in a month!

I believe in doing what I can for the environment and my priority is keeping my 8 month old daughter happy and healthy. I make her foods at home from scratch and use organic whole grains and fruits and veggies but I do it for her health, not to tell my snobby friends I am doing it. (Besides it ends up saving me money in the long run, LOL.

So… anyway, back to my point… every once in a while it’s just so satisfying to see one of their super trendy strollers or something like that get a big recall. Anyone else feel this way? And no, it’s not a jeallousey thing. I was raised to spend wisely and to appreciate what I have. I’m not poor but I am a single mother and I watch my money.

a question for Aussie, Canadian and UK moms?

ok we all know about the heated debates on here, like circumcision, bf vs ff, co sleeping, vaccinations, CIO, cloth vs disposable diapers, sweets vs no sweets, cereal in bottles or not, organic food or not for baby ect. it goes on and on. i am from the US and i know the "norms" or what not over here, like any more CIO is looked down upon, cloth diapers are making a comeback, vaccinations are optional, more and more people are making there own baby food in stead of buying jars.

i also know what the popular brands and stores over here are, like huggies and pampers for diapers, johnsons and aveeno for bath products, evenflo, cosco and playtex for carseats/play pens/high chairs ect. garanamals, carters, child of mine, baby gap, ect for baby clothing brands. we shop at sams club, costco, target, wal mart, krogers, winn dixies down south ect.

for our selves we shop in jc penneys, kohls, macy’s elder beermans, ect. off-brands of baby things include parents choice and target brand.

my ? for you aussie, canada, and uk moms are:

1. What kind of stores do we find in your malls or big store outlets?
2. Where do you grocery shop/baby shop?
3. what are the name brands popular where you live?
4. what are the off brands?
5. tell us a little bit about the places to eat/shop where you live and the brands of things where your from.
oh and where do you live

I took birth control like I was supposed to… same time every day, breast fed 100%, AND used condoms, and I am due feb 2nd of 08′ (God help me) I also have a 7 mo old boy and a 2 year old girl. I got rid of all my baby things(swing, bouncer, clothing, baby nipples, my travel breast pump, and lots of other outgrown or unused items) the first week of may, all my maternity clothes well got rid of them too, bought a new wardrobe as my hips no longer resemble a nice little willow tree, no, they look like marilyn monroe on chocolate, my ultrasound said I got pregnant about the 10-12th of may goes to show… anyways what I am asking is if anyone could give me a list to double check with the one I have already made and what I already have(I hope this one is a boy I hate clothes shopping- it physically hurts to spend that much on a scrap of fabric) thanks everyone sorry I am so long winded
I have an entire boys wardrobe(bought it at a garage sale for 30 bucks sure hope it is a boy…) I have a jumperoo, I have toys up the ying yang, I have a pack n play with bassinet, I have bottles(about 6 different brands…) bowls spoons sippy cups many unused as we are looking for something my son likes(he didnt appreciate my milk drying up) I have a single zooper stroller that is compatible with my britax car seat, a double jogging stroller, coats, swaddling wraps, blankets,

I need for sure
cradle swing
bouncer
2 cribs
car seat for my son to go into when baby is born
crib mattresses(we reused my daughters crib for Niall and I would like the nursery to match) a double dresser with room for a changing pad(i do have the pad) a new rocking chair we seem to eat through those somehow…
