Should I use Scotch Guard before or after sewing?

I am making an assortment of baby items (tummy pillow, diaper bag, burp cloth, car seat cover, etc.) I plan to use Scotch Guard to prevent staining but wonder if I should apply the Scotch Guard to the fabric before I sew it or if I should apply it to the finished product. Also any other tips from experienced seamstresses or crafters would be welcome.

I need FREE baby items – financial crisis?

I am in need of baby items, and recently became unemployed. I need diapers, wipes, NEW clothing for a infant, etc.

Where can I get these items? I live in the USA
Okay so paper towels are NOT an option for me and USED clothing is not either for my son. I grew up in a very wealthy family, and paper towels are kind of ridiculous. My family isn’t involved financially with the baby. Thanks for trying to help, but if I wanted to use paper towels or get used clothes I would.
Thanks! I didn’t even think of craigslist, defiantly a great option :) !
IM NOT 18, please stop giving me county things, because I dont qualify because of my parents income… thats the reason im here.

Is it worthwhile buying a changing table?

I am currently 26 weeks pregnant and am in the process of buying lots of baby items! One thing I came accross is a changing table, the Cosatto Easi Peasi Change Unit, for £79.99. I am going to be living at my boyfriend’s mum’s house for a short while so won’t really have much space for organising babies things, do you think it would be worthwhile buying this? Or should I just save money and buy the mat and a basket for changing items? Just asking if anybody found a changing unit a necessity or an essential!

Thanks x

so far we’ve decided to go with red-shirt pooh, rather than the classic pooh
and we’ve decided to use a neutral color scheme, particularly light green

but besides buying the "Winnie the Pooh" line of baby items that everyone else has (crib, bedding, mobile, lamp, diaper stacker, etc…) we just don’t have many creative ideas to make this nursery our-own (one-of-a-kind)

we’ve talked about getting a stuffed-animal hammock for the corner and using it to hold all the stuffed-animal Winnie the Pooh characters from our childhood (Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Gopher, Rabbit, Owl, etc…)

we’ve also talked about painting some empty flower pots with the word "hunny" on the side and use them to hold little things like diaper creams and pacifiers, any little knick-knacks that baby needs handy

as far as the walls go, we decided to frame finished mosaic style jig-saw puzzles of Pooh and Tigger rather than paint (since we rent) or hang the same old framed posters you see in all the nurseries
link to one of the puzzles we are using:

We’re really at a loss here,
we want this nursery to be fun and playful, something the whole budding family can enjoy…can anyone offer any unique or creative ideas for decor? Specifically any Winnie the Pooh craft ideas, we are crafty people who would very much enjoy making something one-of-a-kind for our baby’s room.
We’d appreciate links to any sites with ideas as well. Thanks for any shared ideas!

PS, to help get the creative juices flowing we’ve been doing research on Winnie the Pooh’s history on these sites:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winnie_the_Pooh

and here’s some more specific history to the shows my husband and I enjoyed as children, the shows which we want our to base our nursery off-of:

Thanks again!

Help with baby item checklist?

Hello I am 23 weeks w/ a baby girl, and we are going shopping later with exactly 0 (we are careful budgeters). Obviously that is not enough for baby items lol, because we have been doing our shopping gradually, spending small amounts of money at a time. This is our first child, so I have NO IDEA what I really need.
Some things I have already gotten:
- Stroller
- Car seat
- Diaper pail
- Bedding Set
- Crib matress cover
- 5 outfits (were obviously getting more)
- A few pairs of socks
- Diaper bag
- Baby bath tub
- Hooded towels / Washcloths
My dad is buying her crib as his baby gift, but I need to know what else I need!!

I am looking for a place online where I can buy really cute handmade baby items. I am looking for burp cloths, blankets, pacifier clip, bibs, etc. I really would prefer handmade so I can get something unique that everybody doesn’t already have. Specifically looking for owls, cupcakes, girly things?

Do you have any diapers, Enfamil Lipil formula or checks, baby boy clothing, a monitor, sterilizer, or other baby items that you no longer need?

I had an ovarian tumor and three surgeries and have had lots of medical problems within the last year which has caused severe financial difficulties. We do not qualify for WIC, I have to formula-feed for medical reasons, and I don’t have family to help me.

Money is extremely tight right now, I am giving birth to a baby boy in 9 weeks, and we can use all the help we can get. We don’t have anything for our baby. Once we get back on our feet, I could send you any coupons or kids items that I come across if you want. Please let me know at mrssoldier33@yahoo.com.

Thank you with all of my heart. <3

P.S. I have joined freecycle.org and but haven’t received any responses yet. I also tried craigslist.org but there are not any free items in my area (just lots of wanted).
If there are any moms or dads out there that are in a position to sincerely help, I would appreciate it more than you realize. Once we get things back in order, I can send you any coupons or items I come across for your children in return. Thank you <3 <3

blankets, receiving blankets, and hooded towels. I have 2 kids, but they’re almost 7 & 9 so I haven’t bought baby items for quite some time!

I just found out that I’m having a boy and want to start getting some items. I have bought some sleepers and onesies and t-shirts and sweat-pants. I don’t know how much to get though of each item, for various sizes like newborn, 0-3 months, etc.

Also, I want to start getting blankets and towels. How many of each would you suggest? And if there are other items that you can suggest stocking up on (besides diapers and wipes!) I would appreciate it!

Thanks!

Anyone know where I can donate baby clothes?

I looked online at the local shelters and they mostly want baby items (diapers, formula, bottles, ect.) not baby clothes. I would like to see the clothes go to someone who needs them, not an organization that is going to turn around and sell them. Any suggestions would be great.

Where is the cheapest place to buy diapers?

I’ve heard from some people that Costco or Sams Club is a good place to buy diapers in bulk for cheaper (and other baby items). Is this true? I want to make sure it would be worth it to buy a membership.
