Our daughter has been pretty on track with her sizes. She’s going to be one year old in the first week of January. We’re looking to buy a winter (snow) suit for her now, as it gets very cold here early on, especially at night (it hit 30 degrees here one night this week).

I don’t mind buying a bit big, so getting her a 12 month sized suit now would be fine. But I’m not sure how long after she gets to a year the suit will fit her.

So I guess the questions are…

What size winter suit would you recommend that we buy for the baby, 12 months or 18 months? Is there an in-between size?

What would be better a one piece or a two piece? Why?

How much growth room will she have with a 12 month suit? (It stays cold here until late March, so she’d be almost 15 months.)

Are we just destined to buy her two snow suits every year? :-o

Many thanks!

We had a early cold snap here and my 7 month old refuses to leave his socks on. He pulls them off to chew on them or will chew them on his feet until they are wet. Either way he ends of will cold toes. He is in 12 months, so footed pants arent really an option.

Anyone know of slippers or socks that are a little harder to pull off?

When did you start taking the pacifier away?

My daughter will be one on the 7th and I have been reading some websites that say you should stop at 12 months because that marks the spot of a dramatic speech phase and others saying whenever the baby doesn’t want it anymore and others saying by 2 years old. So, when did you start weaning baby from the pacifier? How did you do it? Was it successful?
Right now she only gets it when she is going to sleep or when she is very fussy, which isn’t that often.

baby shoe/foot size?

My son will be 12 months on April 2nd and we just bought is first pair of shoes today. Since he is starting to walk we figured that it was about time. Anyhow, we bought a pair of George Baby brand size 4s (9-12 months) and they still are pretty big on his feet. I know that the size really doesn’t matter, but I’m curious about how common this is for babies to have smaller/larger feet than "normal".

Chewing on Cloth… ?

This started at 3 months. She would chew on her clothes, burp clothes, bibs. We stopped putting her in dresses because she would pull them up and eat them. We thought it was funny at first. THEN we told the doctor about it and he said that she was teething and it was soothing for her. He recommended that we give her a damp burp cloth to chew. Now that she’s 12 months old, she STILL does it. In fact, we can’t keep socks on her. She walks right over to her drawers and pulls out a burp cloth or a towel and goes to town! I read in my Parenting magazine that this common for kids who don’t use a pacifier – it soothes them. When we put her down to sleep, she needs the burp cloth. She’s like a dog… She walks around the house with something hanging out of her mouth. I fear that this is going to be something hard to break. When she puts something in her mouth, I take it out and give her something to play with, but she still seems to want it at night.
Normal?
