On the serious side of crocs and foot wear… did you ever spring for those expensive baby shoes?
‘Fess up if ya did
How many of you parents went out and bought a ton of expensive baby shoes only to really realize that your baby will never walk in them? I think I spent on a pair of black dress shoes for my son when he was 2 months old for Easter Sunday…. Now I feel like a yuppie….
Any other parents out there do the same?

im not sure i can turn it off now that i started buddy.
but no i never did. i never got into the footwear. but ask me if i spent too much on an outfit for them to wear once and ill have a different answer
We admittedly bought some Robeez crib shoes – but they were always on sale or from discount stores (and EBay) and I never spent more than $20 . . . but that was still a lot for shoes they would never walk in. I liked them because they kept their socks on when they were babies in the winter months!
First of all you do not even know what expensive shoes are. $30 ha… I staple a $20 bill to the bottom of each of Little Francis’s shoes so that he will not have to walk directly on cheap carpeting when he visits my family.
Secondly it is not important if they wear them or not, you must have them so that you can be a good mommy, that is item #233 on my good mommy list.
i am not yet a mom but i do plan to buy my baby some tiny adidas, nick or other expensive tennis shoe brand when he is one month old, i know he will never walk in them but they are sooooo cute and who cares how much they cost they look adorable!
my SIL is district manager for journey’s shoes.. she gets my son all the brand name expensive shoes… some of them he hasn’t even wore… i myself buy him kmart character shoes, and he does’t know the difference.
I have to buy my son expensive shoes because he has an issue with one of his feet. His right foot is extremely flat and he didn’t walk until he was 18-19 months old and started physical therapy because his right foot was flat turned out really badly when he tried to walk. Now thankfully he moves like a normal kid and needs a lot less therapy, but he still requires a really high quality, plus he has wide feet so we need a brand that carries wide. We have tried other brands, but only Stride Rite gives him what he needs. Between the $50 price tag, and the $13 we pay for arch cookies-his shoes are $63!!!!!
This is why my son only has one pair of shoes!
I just sprung on a pair of Keens for my LO. I know…I know….He has wide feet and I can’t walk into just any store and buy shoes for him. Believe me i’ve tried. They’re not wide in the traditional sense. They’re actually "tall" feet. I tried to put a pair of flip flops on him and I couldn’t even get his toes through. I love the shoes though. They protect his toes. He can jump in the water in them. I can throw them in the washing machine. I bought them 1/2 size up so he can wear them longer.
lol… nope!
Walmart shoes only here…
Yeah, before my son was born hubby & I bought A LOT of stuff, including booties and shoes he NEVER wore because they were so uncomfortable and really.. what for? haha.. ahhh the new mom mistakes.. so funny..
There’s a shop in my city that makes shoes especially designed for babies and toddlers and are adapted to the stage at which they are in terms of learning to walk. My baby niece got her first real shoes there. Cost 30 euro. The investment was completely worth it though. She walked within a week of wearing them. These were also the first shoes she ever kept on. My SIL got her a few cheap pairs before that (1.50 to 3 euro for a pair) but she’d always kick them off. The 30 euro pair was a gift from my MIL and I was so impressed I promised myself I’d go straight to this shop for my kids.
I bought Robeez when my daughters were babies and up until they were 24 months. They all did look like they got wear by the end and I was able to pass them to my niece as well. They are like $30 a piece and they had about 3 pairs each.
I did not buy these as I thought it was a little crazy but she wanted to- my daughters godmother bought them each a pair of uggs this pass November, one a pair of boots one a pair of clogs. It’s a little much for 6 year olds, but it was her money and they got decent wear out of them.
$60 cowboy boots he never wore, some nike shoes that I sold on ebay and got my $50 bucks back….and I do have 1/2 a dozen pairs of crocks for him.
Underwear, Big shirts, and crocks. They will be all set.
I have never bought expensive shoes. My 3 yr old has generic Crocs I bought at CVS. They’ve lasted two summers now. I will buy shoes at the consignment shop too. They all look like they were worn twice.
Yep! My daughter had 15 pairs of shoes before she was born! She’s 6 months now and most of them still have tags on them. I couldn’t resist, being that she is my first baby and those shoes are just so darn cute!! Now that it’s summer, she doesn’t wear shoes at all! I try to put little sandals on her and she has them off as soon as I get them on her!
