it's almost the end.?

well i have about 4 weeks give or take left. i’m 36 weeks and 4 days pregnant. i can’t wait until he gets here but at the same time i don’t know if we have everything that we need for him. what do we need to have the second we have him and what can we go and get later? i’m breastfeeding but should we have formula on hand just in case? i’m so worried he won’t be able to nurse for some reason even though i’ve been leaking for a while now. and what about preemie clothes? we have newborn but what if he is small? should we have the others it case.

I know you are worried, but just relax. I’m sure things will be fine. The list of things that are nice to have because they make life much easier is endless, but there really are very few things that you absolutely must have. You should probably have some formula on hand, just in case, but the hospital will probably supply you with some. I know mine did. All you need is food, clothing (I’m sure even if they are a little too big), and lots love for the little man. Wal-mart is open 24 hours a day if you realize you forgot anything. Good luck, and try to relax! Oh, just make sure you have a car seat to take him home in. : )
Unless you have 10 lb baby-the clothes won’t fit anyway but buying preemie clothes isn’t a great option either. They grow really fast and will be out of them too. As far as the breast feeding is concerned, they will make sure, in the hospitol, that you are nursing properly and make sure its getting done. If its not…they provide you with some formula for you to take home. Hang in there, it will be fine. Just calm down, and relax.
have all the essentials such as; onsies, blankets, diapers, wipes, etc.
dont stock up on too many newborn diapers though, because most babies go straight into size 1, im sure if you need a smaller or bigger size your hubby will have no problem running to the local store and getting some! and a lot of the time, your hospital with give you enough to get through the first couple days!
if youre planning on breastfeeding i wouldnt have formula around, its too much of a temptation, trust me – been there done that! i sadly gave up after three weeks due to latching problems & knowing i had formula in the house made it that much easier! – hubby can also run & get that if need be (but check with your pedi about the recommened type, most peds have a favorite to start with)
i wouldnt get premie clothes, go with newborn & 0-3. my son was born at 36.4 weeks, and he was 5lbs 10oz & couldnt fit in his newborn clothes, but my family & friends took it upon themselves to go and buy us premie clothes & diapers! (it was a great help! because all we had to do was go home and enjoy him! && im sure if you have a small baby hubby will enjoy that too, but def send a woman will him, i dont trust men and clothes shopping!!haha)
dont worry too much, everything will fall into place, && if anything is needed after delievery im sure everyone will be willing to help out as much as possible, i had so much help after my son was born i got aggravated & frustrated (i think hormones played a HUGE part though, be ready for that i think they are worse after you have your baby! haha)
enjoy your last few weeks mommy business free! trust me you’ll need it! and as uncomfortable as it is, try to get as much sleep as you can!!! & after you have your baby, most hospitals will take your baby back to the nursery while you and daddy get rest, TAKE THEM UP ON THAT OFFER!!. you may not want to be away from your new baby but the sleep will be apperciated that first day/night home!

Newborn clothes,and 0-3 month clothes because they grow out of the newborn ones so quickly.
4 packages of diapers
bottles and formula, just in case.
You will need a carseat
diapers
blankets
breast pads
bottles and formula (just in case)
and someplace for him to sleep.
I would also reccomend a swing and a baby gym.
My son WAS preemie and he STILL grew out of them super fast. And Preemie clothes are only up to about 6 lbs. I would stick to newborn clothes and make sure that you have newborn and size 1 diapers on hand. Remember that your milk doesn’t FULLY come in until a few days after you give birth, so don’t fret… Burp cloths are a good thing to have on hand. Hmmm… Receiving blankets and fuzzy blankets… Pacifier, booties, fuzzy sleepers, mittens, and….. hat if you live somewhere chilly. Make sure that you have an appropriate carseat and make double sure that you know how to install and use it properly. Bouncy seats are good, swing is helpful…. Onesies!!! Can’t LIVE without onesies! Infant Tylenol, especially if you get your son circumcised… gas drops I heard are a life saver as well, but I have never used them. Those are the basics I think… congrats on the upcoming arrival and good luck with the delivery!!!

When you first have him you need:
Vest
Sleepsuit
Scratch mittens (dont forget!)
Newborn nappies
Gentle nappy wipes (for the meconium – water just doesnt cut it)
Cotton wool for washing ‘top-n-tail’ (face and bum)
Soft swaddling blanket
Later – more vests,sleepsuits, nappies, hat, nappy cream, pacifier, bag to put washing in.
Im breastfeeding but ive always got formula on standby for reasurrance.
My baby was small (6lb3) and looked little in newborn but he soon filled them up so i wouldnt bother with getting premie stuff, they grow so quickly….but i did have to get a littler hat as the newborn ones covered his eyes! bless

Do NOT get "bottles and formula just in case." Take it seriously — if you have a nursing problem, GET HELP, not formula. Find the number for La Leche League where you live (http://llli.org/ ) and write it down somewhere where you won’t lose it; make that your emergency ‘formula.’
And throw out any free samples the hospital might give you. Those aren’t given out because formula companies are thoughtful organisations with babies’ best interests. They’re given out with the hope that, at 4am, when your baby is screaming, you’ll go "OMG, my milk must be somehow inadequate," and switch to bottles in a panic…
A box of Lansinoh nursing pads is nice to have, though.
Anyway, that said, relax. I don’t think we even had newborn clothes, just 0-3 months. Worst-case, it’s slightly big — for about a week.
As somebody said, Wal-Mart is 24h (it is? Not here it isn’t, I don’t think) — stores don’t close just because you have a baby, so go easy on the shopping.
