Well if you want to give your baby peas. They want carrots give them carrots. Makes no difference if its purred and placed in a jar and bought from a store your out of my garden! Just thinks its a waste of many to buy baby food. "House" food is not unhealthy unless you make it unhealthy.I don’t think babies benefit from eating purred foods from a jar any more then babies who eat what everyone else is eating.
I really don’t think it makes much of a difference either way, so I don’t think you’d actually find a study out there. I give my baby a combination of baby food and house food.
What properties do you believe to be in "baby food" that are not found in "house food"?
"Feeding babies on pureed food is unnatural and unnecessary, according to one of Unicef’s leading child care experts, who says they should be fed exclusively with breast milk and formula milk for the first six months, then weaned immediately on to solids.
Gill Rapley, deputy director of Unicef’s Baby Friendly Initiative and a health visitor for 25 years, said spoon-feeding pureed food to children can cause health problems later in life
She blames the multimillion-pound baby food industry for persuading parents that they need to give their babies pureed food. ‘Sound scientific research and government advice now agree there is no longer any window of a baby’s development in which they need something more than milk and less than solids,’ Rapley said."

Baby food is just processed so babies can have an easier time eating the pureed food… and is convenient for the mother (Not time to cut it up or cook) But my son would never eat baby food so we skipped this step and introduced mashed potatoes etc…
You really need to read the labels because SOME baby food has added ingredients. Fresh fruits and veggies are always healthier but there is nothing wrong w/ jar food. (I hope my daughter will take jar food because it is easier to take on the go!)
The only real benefit is that baby food is quicker and comes in a large variety of flavors. It is more of a convenience thing for the parents as baby food is already pureed and saves you from having to do it yourself.
You can make your own out of the same foods you eat, though it’s a good idea not to add salt, butter or sugars to them, and you have to make sure you don’t give them too big of pieces for them to swallow. How do you think people used to feed children?
I don’t think feeding a baby puree is healthier.
