Maybe they told you not to because they wanted to and didn’t want you to have too many.
People usually can’t resist the urge to buy baby clothes because 1) they are cute 2) they are inexpensive.
Take them graciously and give them to a consignment shop, sell them on Ebay or at a yard sale if you aren’t going to use them.
they probably just wanted to spoil their new granddaughter, and figured your money could be better spent elsewhere. just be grateful that there are people who love her
Well, they probably figure they have more disposable income than you, so they can "waste" their money buying these things, but you shouldn’t. You should be glad to have people who are willing to do these things for you, you can save your money for buying clothes when these no longer fit AND since most of them will be in brand new condition, you can consign them and make some money, too.
How would that be wasteful? Babies don’t run around naked, they probably told you not to so they could.
Haha. It is because lots of people, like soon-to-be grandparents and already grandparents can not honestly help themselves. And part of the reason they might have said it is because they didn’t want you to ‘waste’ your money on a ton of clothes, only to get tons at the shower from them and everyone else.
I think they mainly want you to save yoru money for other things and when was out bought what they see They prob feel they are a lil better off to be able to go buy the stuff then you are. PLUS thats what the grandparents and so on are for. to spoil the child LOL If they want to buy it be greatful they are and you can spend the money on toys and other stuff.
***** ALSO they are right you dont need alot of NB cloths and she will grow quickly out of them think of what age she will be and the season and take the cloths back to get them for the age of the season. also I would not have an NB sizes both my son and godson were not in them long and they were a waste better to get 0-3 and so on. Your not returning just resizing and explain to eveyone if you have enough cloths for the first year to get cloths for when she is older. You need atleast a week and half of cloths to get your from one laundry day to another lol. We have gotten shirts for my son that are 4t sized and love it cause when he is putting it on no other kid will have it. his wardrobe will be different from others. it will be rare to see someone with the same shirt LOL
UGGGH!HH!!! I HATE that!!! I swear if I have to hear one more thing from my mother in law on what I should do that doesn’t even want me to have the baby….(i’m 16 weeks, we tried for a year and 1/2) I will kill her. And I hear that all the time yet I keep getting cloths. It’s like their excited so they can but you shouldn’t…it’s stupid. If you want to BUY YOUR BABY CLOTHS then by all means do it.
Maybe they wanted to buy them for you and present them as gift. Your buying the same things WOULD have been a waste of money so they stopped you from doing it. Maybe it was meant to be a surprise .
Remember the birth of baby does not just bring joy to the parents it is also a very eagerly awaited event for the grandparents also. Maybe they wanted to be part of the joy and contribute towards it
YOU don’t have to because other people will. that makes sense to me.
That’s what g’mas and aunties and uncles are for – They spoil the kids with material things while the parents save whatever money they can for furniture or a savings account for future purposes.
I’m sure it was because they figured everyone was going to buy you clothes and your money would be better spent on other things. It’s so true though. Once you know what you’re having, ESPECIALLY a girl, you just can’t help it. They make those clothes too cute to resist.
I would just take the stuff and see if you can exchange it for bigger sizes. Once babies get to about 6-9 months and especially 12 months they really slow down growing, so you can always use more of those sizes. NB forget about it! My daughter was born small enough to wear permie clothes, but grew so fast that she was in 3 months by the time she was a month old!

they just want to buy the clothes they like, there afraid your going to dress your baby with clothes that they don’t like. i dress my baby like a lil punker and some people just don’t like it. but im the mother and i can dress her the way i want.
WOW….I didn’t realize that someone could be that rude and ungrateful.
Damn those caring family members who want to buy things for your child. You should shoot ‘em all and be done with it.
Maybe they told you not to buy the clothes so that they could. You need your money for diapers, wipes, formula (if feeding formula). I would be thankful that they had you save your money for more important things.
Yes, it is hypocritical, but girl clothes are so adorable, they may not have been able to resist!
People like buying clothes for babies because they are cute, inexpensive and you know that they’ll be used.
I was flooded with clothes when I had my daughter too. But you will use them and if not, you can give them away or sell them online or something…You could also keep them if you plan on having more children down the track.

I was soooooooooo excited that I BOUGHT EVERYTHING. My daughter has clothes for days and days. Of course she’s 11 1/2 months old and can still wear 0-3 months clothing
It’s like a right for the grandparents. My mother-in-law came running up to the hospital the day after I had my daughter with an outfit she had ordered… need I mind you it was 3-6 months and my daughter was wearing preemie clothes. I spent a month in the hospital before my delivery and surely didn’t have ONE piece of clothing to fit her since I listened to people saying don’t buy newborn stuff
