How soon after birth is a “meet the baby” shower proper?
And do people typically treat this the same as a pre-birth baby shower? I didn’t get my sister’s shower planned in time and she’s due in December anyway which isn’t a good time for yet another party. I’d still like to have her a shower but I don’t know much about these sip ‘n see type gatherings.

I would say anywhere between 6 to 12 weeks would be fine. Baby is old enough to handle all the commotion and the parents are used to their new sleep schedule and everyone is up to a get together!
So anytime in January OR February should be A-Ok.
Have fun planning!
6wks minimum…
My family threw a "meet the baby" shower for me. It was about 3 weeks after my baby was born. It was nice because I already had a lot of stuff for my baby so they all gave me diapers, which really are still coming in handy!
1 month is perfect. and no its not the same you like have food and you have people see the baby and they give it gifts and let them hold and talk about how it is having the baby. that’s it!
[best answer please]
I’d wait 6 weeks only because of the flu season and such.. but then again.. people just need to wash their hands.
I would wait until at least a month – two months after the baby is born. Make sure people wash their hands before handling the baby. You could do and ice cream social and keep it relaxed. You could still even play fun games! A few of my friends actually wanted their showers after the baby was born that way they actually knew what they needed at that time and people got to meet the baby!!!
My parents threw a meet-the-babies party about 3 months after my twins were born. I did not have a pre-birth shower.
If your getting the baby christened, then maybe sometime after that. Try to make it just whenever you and your baby are ready!
