Put him in his crib at bedtime, and leave him there.
We had the same problem with my daughter. The key isn’t to hold out as long as possible…(45 min.) It is to make yourself present enough to have him comforted. My husband researched this online and it worked amazing with us.
Step one:
Create a routine, We feed her cereal at 8 pm, then bath time, then bed. Leave the lights on low, try not to talk too loud to help keep it a calming area.
Step Two:
Rock him a bit if you want to get him relaxed, no more than 5 minutes.
Step Three:
Lay him down, even if he wakes up or cries, if he uses a passy give him it to help him calm down.
Step Four:
Go in after 5 minutes of crying rub his head, tell him its bed time and you love him. Give him his passy and leave.
Step Five:
Wait 10 minutes if he starts crying again. Go in tell him you love him but it is bed time. Give him passy and then leave again.
Keep doing it in increments of 15 minutes. I know it will be hard but listen to an i pod or something to help block out the noise. It took us over 50 minutes the first night, but ever since then it has been amazing.
