Has your LO always been in the correct clothes size?
My daughter has never been in the correct clothes size, always below even though now she is on the 50th percentile for everything.
She was 7lbs 10oz at birth and was in preemie clothes until a couple of weeks…then went to newborn at 3 months.
At around 5 months she went into 0-3 months..
Was in 3-6 at around 7 months and now at 11 months she fits into the odd 9 months clothing but still some of her 3-6 and 6mnths fits her?!
She wasnt exactly tiny at birth either…
So i was wondering, at what ages did your LO start fitting into what clothes size?
Thanks!!
Mama tried: Aww bless him! There is nothing wrong with a big boy! He sure is a cutie

hehe this makes me laugh! I am sitting here with my 8 month old son who is wearing a size 24 mos onesie and size 24 mos shorts.
It’s just guidelines, but they’re generally off for most babies. All babies grow at different speeds.
My son was 8 lbs and 4 oz at birth and now he is 30.5 inches and about 25 lbs
Edit: Thanks guys! He’s just a big fella! He mostly wears 18 mos size clothes, but 24 mos fit him too. One day he decided to take off growing and he hasn’t stopped yet. His daddy is tall, so I guess he’s taking after him.
7 yrs old. That’s when my oldest finally started to fit into size 7 clothes.
My 6 yr old wears 5, my 2 1/2 yr old wears 18-24 months. My kids were all different sizes when they were born also. The oldest was 8 lbs, 10 oz, the 2nd was 7 lbs, 9 oz and the youngest was just under 5 lbs.
They’re obviously just guidelines. My son recently turned 6 months, and wears 12 months clothing. He’s even pushing out of the 12 month sleepers. We have the exact opposite problem. Be thankful you don’t have to buy new clothes every few weeks. My son wears some things only once because he’s growing so fast.
And my daughter turned 3 saturday. She is wearing 5T dresses and shirts. And super short, high-water 3T jeans. She’s too thin for the 4T. I don’t see any slowing down for either of them in sight.
he has always needed bigger sizes. he was ok as a newborn but then started growing like crazy. he is 7 months and in some 6-9 month stuff but mostly 12-18 month clothing. he is in the 50th percentile for his weight but it’s the fact that he is so tall that we have to get bigger sizes. he is in the 75th percentile for his height. He is 29 inches long now! Who knows when he will be in his age "appropriate" clothing
lol Mama tried, that’s so cute though.
My boy/girl twins are pretty close – both are 50% or below . . . but they are tall / long so they need the length while a lot of things swim around their middles.
When we first got them home they were too tiny for most things but around 3 months, they caught up – for the length if nothing else. They will be 7 months old on Thursday and wear 6 month and 6 – 9 month clothes.
lol my son was 6lbs 5oz and 19in.
and he would have fit into premie too, but we didnt buy any! we was swimming in his newborn clothes lol, and wore those until 2 or 3 months (he can still fit into some newborn onsies, and he’s 4 months now) he fits most 0-3 month size perfect, some are a little big!
My 10 month old wears 18 month onesies and sleepers, 12 months shirts, sweaters/jackets and 9-12 month pants. He has never worn his proper size…except in diapers lol
Clothes are so weird. My oldest born at 34 weeks began wearing his aged clothes at 3 months. Since then he is 1 size larger in pants and 2 sizes in shirts. He is 8, wears a 10 pant, and a 12 shirt. He is very thin and wears slims. 54" 58lbs
My 3 yr old was 7-14, 20" this one by 6 months was wearing 24 month clothes, he is now only wearing a 4T pant, shirts he needs to go to a 5 but is still wearing the 4. He is more wide than tall. 39", 38lbs
My two year old has always worn his age. He was born 8-5, 21" and wears a size 2T, he’s 36.5", and 31lbs
For the most part, yes. However, this winter he was wearing 12 month jeans for the length. He can wear some 6-9 month things and 6-12 month(Old Navy and Baby Gap) items. He’s getting into 12 month, though, and he’ll be a year old next week(YIKES!). The onesie he’s wearing right now is 18 month but it’s Gerber brand and those have always fit him smaller.
And don’t even get me started on Mason.. what a doll!
Funny, I have been thinking about this too.
My little guy is in the 50% in height, and between 25 and 50 in weight. But he usually wears clothes for a few weeks after the guideline – like I switched him to 9-12 months at about 9.5 months. He is 11 mo now and I dont think he is going to switch out of 9-12 months *on time.* I was wondering if his growth was slowing down, but it is good to hear other mamas thoughts.
Oh, and he still wears 6-9 onesies because (a) I have so many cute and funny ones and (b) things get harder to find for 9-12 months. The sleeves are a little short on some of them, but most of them fit just fine. The Carters onesies, anyway…the Gerber ones, however, are too small too fast. The 9-12 month ones are too small already! So maybe it has just as much to do with brand as anything else?
My son is 18 months old and just starting to wear a few clothes that are 18 months. He is mostly still in 12 month clothes.
My son is almost 6 (in 1 week) months and still can wear some of his 3-6 months clothes and fits well into his 6 month clothes. 6-9 months clothes work for him, but have some growing room. He was 7 lbs even when he was born and wore preemie diapers and drowned in his newborn clothes. Since then he has pretty much followed the recommended age for the size.
LOL. My son is following a similar pattern as your daughter. He was born 7 lbs 14 ounces and 19.5 inches. Came home in preemie/newborn until he was like 5-6 weeks old. He moved into 0-3 months at 6 weeks or so. And now at almost 5 months old he is moving into 3-6 months. He is 14 pounds and 26 inches long now. He looks normal size to me, but everyone says he is small. I think he is perfect.
my Damian was 7Ibs 15.9ozs at birth and wore preemie size for 2 months than newborn size till he was 4 months than 0-3 months till he was 6 months and than 3-6 till he was 9 months and 6-9 months till he was 12 months and now all he wears is 12 months and he is 13 months old and weighs about 22Ibs. the waist is a little big but they stay up and fit good other than that. oh and some of his pjs are 18 months but they are a little big but he is so comfy in them and its cute.
mama tried your boy is too cute
My daughter is usually right at the correct size or one below. She is almost 2 and she can still wear 12 months clothes. I’m little too so I know she will take after me. I’m under 5.’
My son was 6lbs 6oz when he was born. We had a few preemie outfits that fit for the first few weeks. But most of his clothes were Newborn and he was lost in them until he was about 2 months. Then he was in 0-3 months until he was about 5 months. Then 3-6 months until he was 7 months and it got cool outside. At that point we bought warmer clothes and figured it made more sense to get a size he could grow into so they could last all winter. So we got 9 and 9-12 month clothes since he was 7 months already. He was lost in them until about 11 months and now (5 days before his first birthday) he fits most of the 9 month clothes. The 12 month clothes fall off him. And he still wears his 3-6 and 6-9 month onesies. We don’t even have 12 month onesies yet. He’d be swimming in those! I’m looking forward to when it really warms up so I can pull out those 6-9 month summer outfits we received that were too big to wear last summer.
haha! no. I dont know where to even begin. My son has had every brand of clothes. He would mostly fit the weight requirements of clothes but not the months bc of his length. Hes always been long baby. At almost 10 months today he’s wearing 12 months shirt and 6-9 months(bigger made) pants. But the kmart brand "small wonders" he has 2 onesies from there that are 9 months those are the only 2 that fit him @ 9 months. He was 8lbs 13 oz at birth..21 inches long. Hes now 20lbs 5 ounces and 28 inches.
My first daughter was always a in a size bigger than she was, but she was a little chubber lol.
My 10 month old has always been in the right size and its weird as she was quite a bit bigger at birth than my first. She has just turned 10 months and is in 9 – 12 month clothes.
