I never put a bib on my kids while breastfeeding, I have two, but, in my experience, they do dribble a lot of milk and if they unlatch, especially while let down is occurring, the milk sprays everywhere. So, I would tuck a burp cloth under their chins and my breast so that the milk wouldn’t drip onto them, onto me, or onto whatever pillow I was using to help support them (sometimes a boppy, sometimes just a regular couch pillow). I’m sure a bib would work similarly but I liked being able to bunch up the cloth where I knew the milk would focus. Not a stupid question at all.
I used to put a bib on my daughter when I would nurse her. My supply is more settled now and she doesn’t really spit up as much, so now I just put it on her while she is eating solids.
My son is 13 days old. I am breast feeding and do not put a bib on him. He has never spit up breast milk. If he did spit up a lot I probably would put a bib on him.
I use a bib now because my son tends to spit up a lot, and I find it a waste to change his outfit after every time he eats because I don’t like it when he smells like sour milk.
No I don’t normally. I do when my daughter is spitting up a lot, or if she’s projectile vomited recently. I will be putting one on her when she starts solids though. It’s not a silly question at all!
I’ve never had to put a bib on my baby until she started on solids. She liked to push it out with her tongue and it was a mess. Dont’ be sorry. No questions are stupid unless they were made up by what most people on here like to call "trolls".
Most the time I will put a bib on my three week old daughter after she has breastfed because she tends to spit up quit a bit and Im so tired of changing her outfit after every feeding lol. But if your baby doesn’t tend to spit up after breastfeeding then Id say you really don’t need a bib just yet! No question is stupid.
Yes, while breastfeeding, because from birth till around 3-4 months, they puke & dribble quite a bit, i used to use at least 2 bibs a day, now my daughters 6 months, 2 teeth are through, she’s stopped dribbling and hardly pukes, for solids we use those plastic tray bibs, much easier and less stains from carrot, pumpkin etc, which really stain,
seriously your baby should not need a bib to breastfeed.
