I would keep them as a keepsake only, she can wear the soft slipper type baby shoes, they are nice and cosy and soft and won't hurt her feet. She then wore crawlers (also soft shoes but with a little bit of protection on them) until she could walk. Once walking she wore 1st walkers. They were pretty much for looks though, as it doesn't get cold enough here to need more than socks, mostly. All of this 'walking shoes' stuff is rubbish. You're supposed to let them walk around with bare feet or socks, unless they're walking on asphalt or mulch, obviously, so they can get a feel for different textures. It helps them walk better. And this is what both of my pediatricians have told my mom. And if babies wear shoes too much before they start walking, you can mess up their feet. But special occasions are okay, feel free to dress your little one up. Unless it was very cold outside, I would never put shoes on my baby until he actually gets the hang of walking and walks well.
