Did your baby wear shoes before they could walk?
I know for a fact some friends are buying some brand name shoes for my baby girl for Christmas. As she is only 4 months and obviously not walking or crawling, I’m not sure if they are for novelty or if she is actually supposed to wear them.
Will I look silly for putting shoes on her or do most babies wear ‘baby shoes?’
Thanks!

Hard sole shoes are not meant to be worn before a baby can walk as it can damage their foot growth/development.
I would keep them as a keepsake only, she can wear the soft slipper type baby shoes, they are nice and cosy and soft and won’t hurt her feet.
He certainly did.
He was a winter baby and it kept his little feet warm.
haha my partner was like why dont you just save all the $ for theses ones hell never break in and buy him nicer one when he can accually walk..
lol men:^) never understand moms
My daughter wore padders (very soft shoes, almost like leather gloves) until she could crawl. She then wore crawlers (also soft shoes but with a little bit of protection on them) until she could walk. Once walking she wore 1st walkers.
Babies bones are very soft and hard shoes or poor fitting shoes can cause the bones to grow abnormally.
My son was given some baby shoes, but wouldn’t keep them on!
They were pretty much for looks though, as it doesn’t get cold enough here to need more than socks, mostly.
The brief moments he DID wear them, they were kinda cute though
use them to go out to keep her feet warm. they probably won’t be walking shoes but pram shoes which makes them fine to use outside now that it’s cold.
i started putting name brand shoes on my daughter at the age of two weeks and she a preemie they are just so cute on her feet even though they are very tiny some of her shoes has a soft bottom and her Jordon’s and converse Nike’s have hard bottoms and she is only 4 months old
Unless it was very cold outside, I would never put shoes on my baby until he actually gets the hang of walking and walks well.
All of this ‘walking shoes’ stuff is rubbish.
You’re supposed to let them walk around with bare feet or socks, unless they’re walking on asphalt or mulch, obviously, so they can get a feel for different textures. It helps them walk better.
And this is what both of my pediatricians have told my mom.
And if babies wear shoes too much before they start walking, you can mess up their feet.
But special occasions are okay, feel free to dress your little one up.
My little man does if we’re going out and its cold.
Or if it is hot, and he is out and about in his walker or his Jolly Jumper I will put little shoes on.
My daughter was born in summer so I did’nt really bother with shoes until she was about 3-4 months old, and even then she only wore soft shoes.
At that age, she’s nowhere close to walking or even crawling. They are simply for show. I never bothered putting shoes on my kids unless we were going out and it was cold outside. It felt weird to only have socks on a kid when it was 30 degrees outside.
Once your kid starts to walk, then the best thing is to have them wear no shoes. At this age, shoes are like accessories. They serve no purpose then to look cute.
my baby worr shoes at like 3months no your baby will not look funny.i dont no how true it is but my mom says that just when your babies about to start walking start putin shoes on he/she because it would help tham to learn how to walk.
my sons been given shoes, but i prefer to put him in thick socks instead, i heard shoes can damage the soft bones of a young babies foot, but i think thats if theyre worn for a long time. i’d put her in them for an hour when your friends are around then take them off.
(i never wear shoes in the house either so maybe its just me!! lol!)
My husband bought our son brand name shoes, what a waste of money, I thought to myself, ok, I’ll use them for my daughter because she was smaller that my son at the same age, she never wore them either. You get proper baby takkies and shoes from baby shops that are way more comfortable and easier to get on than the name brand ones, never mind much CHEAPER.
Neither of my sons wore shoes before walking. I just figured it would be uncomfortable for them. I preferred thick socks instead.
No, you wouldn’t look silly for putting her in shoes. Mom’s put their infants in shoes all the time.
Yesterday I met my friend to do some christmas shopping. Her baby is also 4 months old, and she had on some Dooney and Bourke boots that probably cost more than my entire wardrobe. They were adorable!!!
