Go to your local Party City or whatever party store is near you. You'll find all the decorations you'll ever need there.

For games, I like the Ribbon game:
All you need is spool of ribbon & a scissor. Have each guest cut off a piece of ribbon that they think will wrap around the mommy-to-be's waist without overlapping. Whoever comes closest wins a prize.
Also, set a regular kitchen timer to various times while the mommy-to-be is opening gifts. When the timer goes off, the person who gave the gift that she's holding wins a prize. This is a good game to save for last because you can regulate it so there are ties.
The last shower I was at, everyone was given a necklace with a pacifier on it and if the wearer said "baby", whoever was closest was able to take their necklace. Whoever had the most necklaces at the end of the shower won a prize. You'd be shocked at how competitive women can be for a freakin' candle.

I like tart burners & a couple tarts as big prizes.

We did one where we took clean diapers and melted different chocolate bars (hersheys, snickers, three muskateers, etc.) into each diaper using the microwave. The game was to pass around the diapers and guess what type of candy was in each one. The chocolate melts in such a way that it looks like a bowel movement, so you get some intersting pictures of your relatives with their noses buried in what looks like poo...

I'm not one for games...but I love the clothes line as a decoration for a shower. It's cute because the clothes and orther items on the line are gifts as well! You can do the line along a wall if you have a place to tack it on correctly, or attach it to the front of a table (maybe the gift table). When we've done it we hung little socks, booties, a few wash clothes, some receiving blankets, a couple of bibs, and a couple of onesies. It came out soooooooo cute and evryone loved it. I copied it from a baby shower i went to, I couldn't resist!

You might think this is gross, but at the last shower I went to they played a game where they put different types of bite sized candy bars in newborn baby diapers and mushed them up. During the shower they passed them around. You had to guess what type of candy bar it was. It really looked like poo too. I thought it was a cute game but I guess it depends on the guests.

Some games:

TV Family Show Children

I made this game up for my daughter-in-law's baby shower. Since our family had several baby showers during one year, we were all tired of the same old games. I made a list of TV sitcoms with family themes like Wonder Years, Bewitched, Waltons, Family Ties, the Nanny, Brady Bunch - just a few I listed. Beside the name of the show, I listed the number of children's names needed. At the bottom of the page I wrote all the names of the children characters to choose from. I had the guests play in teams of two or three. Everyone at three showers loved playing this game, it appeals to a wide range of ages since older shows are being shown on cable and more current shows are regular viewing. This game seems to be a great "ice breaker". We made sure that everyone won a prize.

Did You Say BABY?

Each person is given a clothes pin at the beginning of the shower. Everyone is then instructed not to say the word "baby." If you slip and say "baby", then the first person who catches you gets all of your clothes pins. The person who has the most at the end of the shower, or a set time (say 1 or 2 hours into the shower), wins!

This is a lot of fun! It is impossible not to say "baby" at a Baby Shower!

Clothes Pins Legs Crossed

As all the guests arrive, give them four clothes pins and have them placed on their shirt. Also tell them that they can cross their legs, but, if they do then who ever catches you crossing your legs gets one of your clothes pins.

At the end, who ever has the most clothes pins on her shirt wins!

Baby Bag Mystery

Take about five baby items and place in a paper bag. Staple the bags shut and number them.

Pass out paper and pencils to the guests. Then pass the bags around and have them right down their answers.

After all have finished the one who gets the most right wins.

HINT: Get some easy items like diaper pins, pacifiers, rattles, and a few harder items like bow holders for the babies shoes; a fingernail clippers.

Baby Shower Book

This isn't a game itself - it's more of a game-aid for all the other games you will be playing at the shower.

For a lot of baby shower games, you need a piece of paper to write on. Ahead of time, figure out all the games you'll be playing at the shower and print out all the "forms" they need (a page labeled "Baby Food Game" with 10 numbered blanks if you are playing the game where you guess what's in the baby food jars; a blank bingo card on one page if you are playing Baby Bingo, etc.) Make a cover that has a cute baby picture (like an Anne Geddes photo) with the baby's stats (name if already decided, or just "Baby (Last Name)", due date, etc.) Make a back page that has places for guests to write in: their name and address, messages to the mom and baby, guesses on birth date, weight, length, eye and hair color, boy and girl name ideas (if name hasn't been picked yet). Print out enough for each guest then staple together.

Guests can use the booklets to write in their answers for the baby shower games. At the end of the shower, the back page is torn off and given to the mother-to-be. The guests get to keep their books as souvenirs, and the new mom keeps the back pages as a record of who attended, memoirs for the baby, and names and addresses will be handy for sencing thank you cards later. It also makes the hostess's job easier since she doesn't have to stop and make sure guests have a sheet of paper before every game - they just need one booklet to last during the whole shower!

Enjoy!
