My FIL got our crib for us and had a hard time loading the box in his SUV. The boxes they come in are HUGE and bulky. What kind of vehicle does your mother drive? If it's a small car then I would say she's going to have problems getting it to fit in.

Check out Babies R Us for cribs, that's where we got ours. Some of them are a little pricier but you get what you pay for. We got a transitional crib from there so our baby will be able to use it as he grows. Ours was around $400. Also you can read all the reviews from other consumers on their website.

most new cribs come in a box and uninstalled....

It may be hard to get the crib in her trunk unless it is really large and even then you may have to take the parts out of the box to get it in. You may look at Babies 'R' Us. They have every type of crib that you could ever imagine. Good luck and congrats!

The part that the mattress sits on is pretty big (long) and wouldn't fit in most trunks . . . unless you have back seats that will fold all the way down.

We were able to fit ours in the back of a CR-V (small SUV) with the seats pushed down.

Our cribs were purchased used from a woman on Craigs List . . . but we also shopped Babies R Us before deciding.

If she has a just a car. I know a crib wouldn't fit in my trunk of my car. I would call my dad ask him to get it for me. I am expecting my third and I got rid of my crib years ago.
