36 weeks pregnant– what do i need to get for new baby?
for some reason i’m at a complete loss this pregnancy. everything is different with this pregnancy than it was with my first. i am definitely not prepared for anything, i don’t even feel like i have the motivation to get prepared!!! i have lots of clothes (onesies, sleepers, etc) left over from my first son that are in excellent shape, and we have bought a few clothes– but i don’t even feel like buying many clothes because i feel like with the clothes we have the new baby will have plenty to wear. we went and bought a package of pampers, but i didn’t want to buy many because the dr thought this might be a right large baby, and i don’t want to spend my time returning/exchanging diapers. we have a few packages of wipes, receiving blankets, spit up rags, etc. we did buy one package (3) avent bottles 4oz (i know we need more bottles) and bottle brushes.
i decided not to have a baby shower this time, because i’m not close with any of my friends any more and i feel bad having a party just to get gifts (yes i’m very weird). i also had many things left over from my first son that we could use (clothes, baby bed, crib bedding, etc).
so what else should i get before the baby gets here (outside of more bottles)?

Congrats on your pregnancy.Hope you will have a wonderful time.As you already mention that you have plenty of clothes for new born baby(which your elder son had alreday used).so you dont need to buy some more but as you still have some time. The best thing you can do to avoid the hassel after.Properly wash them,Sort them out by age(like 0 to 6 months(you will be needing very soon) & start organizing new born wardroob. It wil save your time after child`s birth.Make a list for toilettries and shop for them.Kindly clean & prepared the child`s equipments your elder son is already using.like playpan, crib, car seats.
Kindly check out your car validation as car seats do expire after curtain time.like i bought my child`s car seat in 2003 & its soon gonna be expired in 2009.
If you already know the sex of baby & its a boy.than you dont have do alot but if just in case its a girl than you will be needing different color scheme. So get prepare to buy some pinks,Purples or neutaral colors too.
Buy extra cribs sheets. You may need to prepare a bag which you soon will be taking to the hospital for your needs and baby`s too.
As my son was born in Jan 2006 & as it was my 2nd pregnancy so i didnt do anything special for him even already knew its a boy & I had a daughter already.then one of my frd told me that every child comes first time in the world.its not thier fault if they are 1,2 or even 5, you have to make arrangement for this baby`s arrival too. and believe me it got me mesmerized what a wonderful thing she told me.
I didnt buy plenty of stuff for him but i had all the nessessary preparation for him.& as i was already prepared I didnt face any hard time having a 2nd baby.Do the maximum you can do now do avoid t he hassle after the birth.
any way I am really impressed by your thoughts about the baby shower. It sounds good but i personally don’t like to arrange baby showers when it comes to my kids, just like you.
stock up on toiletries, like baby lotion, oil, baby powder, bum creams, shampoo, etc. you can never have enough of those
Couple of cans of formula – unless you are nursing.
you need all the smell good stuff like shampoo, lotion , baby oil, baby powder, and so on but other than that it sounds like you have all the have to have stuff
Do you have a baby bathtub? (Of course, you can bathe the baby in the sink for the first several weeks.) You should also have a diaper pail, some formula if you don’t intend to breastfeed, blankets (or a blanket sleeper, much better) if the baby is going to sleep in a crib or bassinet… Other than that, you’ll find out pretty quickly what you’re going to need. No matter how prepared you think you are, you’re going to find out you forgot something!
I am right there with you, I had my son 4 years ago and I knew exactly what to get and I felt so prepared but now Its almost like I dont know what I am doing. Honestly, it sounds like you have the things you need and when you go to the hospital they provide you with alot too, like diapers and such. What I am doing is telling people not to buy me anything until the baby is born so I will know for sure what I need.
I know exactly how you feel about the baby shower too, I did not have one, but people insist on buying baby stuff (they love it) so just let them do it when your baby comes. Good luck!
Mylcon gas drops… they are a must with infants… formula unless you are going to breast feed.. a baby bath.. diaperbag… carseat… stroller…lots of tylenol(for you)lol.. some dreft laundry detergent or something else baby safe….bibs… a thermometer… a passifier…. thats really all i can think of for now… the rest of the stuff will come to you… as long as you have the main things you will be fine…
Do you have a baby swing, a good car seat and stroller, a high chair, bouncy play thing, and you might want a walker. Do you have baby lotion, and stuff to wash the baby, oh and vaseline. Baby clippers, and baby brush, If you walk around in the baby department at walmart look around and you will see what you need. You will want to also have some toys and stuffed animals oh and rattles. A soft blanket to lay on the floor so the baby can have tummy time on something soft. You might want to also get one of those kick and play things.
I hope this helps you, and congratulations on the new baby!!
