I’m doing a big craft project using baby food jars and I want them to look uniform and nice — which means no baby food logos on the lids. I was going to spray paint each lid but it’s just not turning out the way I’d hoped.

So instead of spray painting, is there a way I can just strip the lids to remove the painted logos? The lids are metal, so what could I use for that? I need the most efficient method to do this because I have about 100 lids to strip! Thanks in advance.

I want to buy my 9 month old her first pair of real shoes. She is cruising now, so they would need to be safe for babies learning to walk. I found the brand Pediped online, those seemed promising but I don’t know anyone that has bought a pair. I would like them to be flexible but stable so that she won’t slip in them.

Would you recommend this brand? Or another brand?
She is always barefoot, I know that’s best when learning to walk. We live in Georgia so it’s still warm. But it’s getting cooler and soon she will need shoes for when she’s outside.

My dog’s info:
Age: ~8½ years old
Gender: Male
Weight: ~45 lbs.
Breed: Sheltie (Shetland Sheepdog (black/white/tan))

What’s been going on?
For the last few days, my dog has been acting very strange… For no apparent reason, even when he is nowhere close to anyone, he yelps really loud and runs either to the basement or the person in the house that was farthest away from where he yelped. This has been happening for 4 days now. For the last few years, he has had a small limp in one of his legs, but it was nothing serious. He would limp for a couple of days, and then be normal again…

For a couple of hours before he started this mess, he was limping really bad, but it cleared up for about ~15 minutes before he yelped… I am very worried about him… Ever since then, he has had this behavior…

Just a few minutes ago, my mom had him on her lap, and she was petting him, and all of a sudden he yelped and tried to get away. She held on to him and he kept yelping. She set him on the floor after a few yelps and tried to keep him still there too, but he kept yelping. She let go and he ran outside into the back yard and doesn’t want to come in… (sometimes he does that anyway)

Two days ago, he was laying down in his usual spot (behind the couch, next to the vent), sleeping, when all of a sudden, he was awake and he yelped really loud, and he ran outside as fast as he could. Later, when it was time for his dinner, I found him in our laundry room, where he had shoved his way behind our clothes hampers (where we sort the laundry) against the wall, laying down and shivering (I am not sure if the shivering was of being scared/in pain or because the concrete floor was really cold…) I had a hard time getting him to come out.

And other times, when we are petting him, he just yelps and runs away for a few hours.

Oh, and a few months ago, we found this small lump on his side and we thought it was just a lump of fat, and we are still pretty sure that it is…

What have I/we done?

When he’s not in a scared mode, we have (multiple times) started petting him, etc, and while petting him, feeling different places on his legs, neck, back, hips, chest, ribs, face, etc… He has not responded in a way that would suggest pain, just happy that we are ‘petting’ him.

A couple years ago, our vet had told us that if he ever seems to be in pain, to give him a baby aspirin twice each day, we have no baby asprin, so we are splitting a regular asprin in fourths (~81 mg, approximately a baby aspirin). It has not helped at all.

As I have said, I am very worried about him, and we are currently unable to take him to a vet… Any suggestions (besides going to the vet) are welcome. I just want him to get better…

My son is 3 months old and just got his 3 month shots today [4 of them] and he’s got a 99.3 temperature [which his doctor said is normal] but he’s being fussy which is very rare for him! He never cries.
He got the shots at 10:30 this morning and now it’s 10:40pm. so it’s been exatly 12 hrs. He slept most of the day after the shots .. but now it’s bedtime and he’s being fussy. I feel so bad for the little guy :[
My house temperature is 78º .. and I have him dressed in some footed pajamas .. should I put him in something cooler since he has a fever?? Or should I leave him bundled up? [it's what he usually sleeps in at night].
He’s never been fussy before, so I know it’s some reaction to the shots. I’m just wondering if I have him dressed too warm to go to bed? [since he's running a slight fever].
Should I put him in a onsie with a light blanket rather than the pajamas [to make him cooler?]
I’ve already given him a small dose of Infant Tylenol.

Kristel – the medicines were taken off of the shelf because the dosage directions were wrong, there wasn’t anything wrong with the actual medication that was on the shelves.
My sons Pediatrician [who was also my husbands Pediatrician when he was a kid] said to give him Infant Tylenol, he’s been in the business for over 30 years .. I figure he knows what he’s doing :]

Whew, not looking forward to anymore shots! That wasn’t fun .. he cried and I cried. I think it hurt me worse than him! :]

I moved here and don’t know anyone very well, and someone I have only met twice offered to host my baby shower. She is also pregnant and due 2 weeks before me.

I’d like to get her something for hosting but she won’t answer that part of my emails when I ask what she needs. I don’t think she wants me to feel obligated.

What should I get for her?

I think it would be fun to go into business for myself making things for weddings and baby showers. Baking, decorating, photography and calligraphy are just a few of the things is like to learn…as well as any crafty idea for decorating or jewelry making. How do you get started in learning how to do this kind of stuff? Any suggestions?

I ask this because it seems like SOME childless people (I respect their decision) happen to think we parents lose just about everything when we have kids.

It’s not like you are going to be stuck with a crying infant for the next 50 years. Children do eventually become grown ups and leave and we get to be childless again.

Plus how many cars, clothes, shoes, homes or gadgets does anyone need so as to fear a kid is going to take away from them. Who else would you rather share it with?

i am due to have my baby girl within the next week and am wondering which of these two options would be better for her in her first few days of life. the first is for me to bring her back to my parents’ house. the second is to bring her to my boyfriend’s apartment. but both of these choices have things that make them not good choices.

1. parents’ house
- my little (5-year-old) brother has recently been getting very sick with the flu and other childhood illnesses and i really would not want my newborn to get sick especially since i’ve heard that infants in some cases can die from the flu.
- i would most likely have to keep the child in my room upstairs which at times can get quite hot (even though the house has central air) and the temperature in my room reaches about the mid-eighties even at night and i don’t think it would be good for an infant to be in conditions that hot.
- my parents are really not the best people in the world to be around. my father constantly yells and flips out and puts me down and tells me i’m worthless and i often end up crying (because of him) and i don’t think that stressful of an environment would be good for the baby to be around.

2. boyfriend’s (father of the baby’s) apartment
- it’s on the third floor of an apartment building in the middle of the city of coatesville (not really a good location) and i’m not sure that being in the middle of the city is the best place for an infant to be (the apartment has gotten broken into before by 9 guys who were carrying knives).
- my boyfriend lives with his older brother and now his brother’s girlfriend and their cousin are there too and they all smoke (weed and cigarettes) and i know for sure that is not a good thing to have around a baby although they smoke on the other side of the apartment from where the baby would be so very little smoke if any at all would ever reach the baby but the smoke is a big worry of mine.
- there’s a cat and two ferrets there the cat just wanders everywhere in the apartment (it’s my boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend’s cat) and it hasn’t been there long and i don’t really know if any harm could come to the baby from the cat the ferrets are in a cage so i’m not too worried about them other than the smell that always comes from the cage (even a few minutes after it gets cleaned and they get bathed) but what’s worrying me is what if the baby is allergic to the cat i am afraid i wouldn’t even be able to tell.

so those are the main problems with the two places i can go please tell me which sounds like the lesser of the two evils to bring a child into cause i really am not sure.

and yes i have to choose one of the two i am only seventeen and still have a year of high school left and i don’t plan on dropping out so i can’t really get my own place just yet. and my boyfriend is only turning seventeen in a few days so he is unable to get his own place yet at least until he gets his license next month. so please tell me which place would be better i am really unsure how to decide.
